The Winter Shelter, sponsored by the Mount Vernon Seventh-Day Adventist Church in cooperation with Skagit County and the Friendship House, is now open in Mount Vernon.
The winter shelter at the Seventh Day Adventist Church was started in 2017 and focused on offering a place of shelter from the cold to those in dire need when the outside temperatures dropped to freezing. There are 22 beds available on first come - first serve basis.
They are also accepting donations of blankets, sleeping bags, and cold weather coats and accessories to offer to guests for the night.
If you would like to donate or help, you can apply to volunteer through the Friendship House website, or contact Tina Tate (Shelter director) at (360) 336-6138.
