Hydration hydration hydration. Hydration is key for healthy skin. In times like these, (extreme winds coupled with dry cold air) we realize, drinking water isn't always enough to keep skin plump and glowing. We must do more. Now, there are many things we can do to prevent dehydration but today I am going to talk about a quick step in a regime that is often overlooked as unnecessary or simply eliminated when in a rush. Toner.
I find this step is often disregarded from skin care regimes since it is seen as not as effective as other steps. But let me tell you, this isn't a step to skin. It doesn't matter if its summer or winter, toner is effective for different reasons during different seasons.
I often find my skin dehydrated in Winter. The moisture just can't seem to stay locked in...but when I use a toner it helps my skin stay hydrated for longer. Dry cold winter air can literally suck the mositure out of skin and if left untreated, you are left with skin feeling like the texture of an alligator. An awful side effect of skin being dehydrated is that it will produce more oil in an effort to protect itself. To treat dehydrated skin you need to retain mositure (ie. Deliver hydration and lock it in!). Now, obviously a serum and good moisturizer can work wonders for dehydrated skin but don't underestimate toner.
The CoQ-10 toner from @indielee helps to hydrate and rebalance skins pH. By using a toner after cleansing you prime you skin for the next steps, increase absorption of the next products and balance the skin's pH (pH is very important, especially when trying to treat acne). The ingredients include humacants (aloe vera, hyaluronic acid), antioxidants to protect from pollution/environmental stress (CoQ-10 and sage), vitamin C (chamomile and cucumber extract, papaya leaf extract). The product is vegan and free of alcohol, dyes, mineral oil, parabens, synthetic fragrances and sulfates. It works for dry, dehydrated, break out prone and sensitive skin.
I use this right after cleansing. My skin is instantly plumed and hydrated, the pH is balanced and I have felt how it helps lock in moisture and keep my skin hydrated on the driest coldest days of winter.
