We always dream of buying a fixer upper home on a really cool piece of land which clearly must have some sort of water...with fish in it.
We really are not subdivision people. But when we moved to Florida, I felt it would be best to be in a neighborhood so we could develop community in this new foreign ground we were about to make home. So we built our house on a small lot of land with a little canal in back. Floridians like to call these “lakes” but really they are literally just a place for water run off. During the entire home building process, the boys wondered if there were fish in that water. When we came to check out the house progress, they would run straight to the water to see if they could see fish.
They never did. So the mystery carried on for months.
Then on the very first night in our home, they caught a big bass and all the stars in heaven aligned! Although we’d love to be living on a bigger body of water, that little canal, with those massive bass, makes me take a step back and realize that often times the simple things are the best of things.
Almost three years later and those bass are growing as fast as our kids!
