NEW HOPE #RESCUE ONLY
Hello, my name is DUKE
My animal id is #25495
I am a desexed male brown brindle dog at the #Brooklyn Animal Care Center. The shelter thinks I am about #3years old.
17-Apr-2018 - surrender reason stated as animal #BEHAVIOR .
AT RISK - has displayed a high level of #boisterous energy whilst at the care center and appears to be #slow reading signals from other dogs ; can be DOG #reactive, .
He was adopted from BACC about one year ago and was surrendered due to behavior concerns in the home. Previously lived with 1 Adult. Duke is unpredictable when meeting new people in his home. He will bark and #retreat as they enter the door, and he needs a while to relax. He will approach and sniff guests, and after a while he will calm down. HAS NOT been around Children. Duke has interacted with dogs at the park before and is #friendly and #playful with some dogs, and can be aggressive towards others. His owner stated he has also spent time at a boarding kennel where he interacted with dogs and was #relaxed and #playful with them. Owner stated he is able to go near his food bowl when he is eating but he would not trust anyone else to do so. He is able to take away objects from Duke's mouth although if it is a ball, Duke will not drop it as he enjoys playing with them. He is an indoor dog. He likes to play with toy balls and kong toys, and loves to play fetch and run. He sleeps in the owners bed or his own bed, and eats dry food. He is house trained to go outside and is well #behaved when left alone in the house as long as the garbage is locked away, otherwise he does get into it. He knows the commands “sit, stay and shake”. He walks on and off leash, but only off leash at a park at night when no other people are around.
MEDICAL - Duke's rear right leg has a #luxating patella
