Explored a new to me section of the W&OD trail today that took me out west. 12 miles and luckily most of them were in some shade. Another hot day today so luckily we’re headed back to the water park 🏊‍♀️🏊‍♂️ in a little and this time with some fun filled water bottles 😜. Hope you all are having a great weekend!

Hydration!!! Super important in hot/humid weather. I ran for 45 mins and lost 2 pounds in that time. That’s even with drinking my entire hydration bottle. Obviously I didn’t do as well as I could have, but remember to drink prior to and after your run!! 5 nice and slow miles to start the weekend!

For the past 12 weeks I’ve had some sort of a long run every Saturday morning. Some runs I conquer and some I don’t. Today I was scheduled to run 26 miles and I cut it short after my first 6 mile loop. It’s the first run that I’ve broken down into tears. I don’t know if my body just needs more rest or if it’s just an off week but this is miserable. I didn’t sleep well last night, woke up with an upset stomach and was a little late for the morning meetup. I had some runners from my MRTT group meet me but they were much faster and had less mileage to go. By mile 1 I was completely by myself in the pitch black which gave me a heart attack a couple times. I could never find my groove or rhythm and by mile 4 I broke down. Sat down on the sidewalk and cried for a minute. I can’t even tell you specifically what I was crying about. Got back up walked it off, started running again, called Bobby telling him I think I’m going to quit and then ran back to my car. There are runs I push through and set aside any pain. And then there are days like today where everything just felt off. Nothing drastic, just off enough to where mentally I was struggling and who wants to struggle through 26 miles almost completely by themselves? Not me. I’m trying to decide about what I’m going to do tomorrow morning or if I’m just going to start a new week on Monday 🤷‍♀️ Going to sulk a little this morning because it sucks but life happens. Happy Saturday loves. Even if you had a rough morning today, give yourself some time to sulk then you can still take a breath and find what really matters - your happiness and health!

There’s no denying that after Mark was born, I struggled. I thought that because I was already a mom that the second time would be easier on me. It was so much harder than I expected and mentally it wasn’t good. My body was broken down way more than it was after Charlie and my mind couldn’t handle it. I was angry, sad, and just felt stuck. I was lonely working from home and being only with my kids all day. I work when they nap, sleep, or every so often during the most precious moments of them playing together and I can sneak away. Some days we have it together and the kids nap when they are supposed to. Some days shit hits the fan and we are all crying. With Mark turning one year old in the coming weeks I am so thankful for this season of my life. This past year has been rough on me and to be honest I don’t know how I made it through some days. Everything has changed after becoming a mom. My goals are not number one priority. My kids are my priority and they need a mom that loves life. This past year though, I have loved more than I have ever loved. And I have never worked so hard on every aspect of my life. Running with Charlie & Marky in the stroller and Gunner by my side is everything to me. It’s my time that I can share my love of running with them. It’s the time where I can show them that even though being their mom is first and foremost, I am still chasing after my goals that were written down way before they were born. Even on the days when they whine mile after mile, I still am able to go back home feeling somehow refreshed. At least we all got some fresh air. I honestly don’t know where I’d be without running, especially in this past year. I don’t know what I’d do if we didn’t have the double stroller. Running with them makes my heart explode and overfill with love and gratitude. And I know it won’t last forever. I’m taking motherhood one day at a time, one run at a time. In the end I am the only one who can give my children a happy mother who loves life. And I love life through running. This is how I show them who I am.

This week...boy oh boy, this week has tested me. I can give you the list of things that were out of whack this week, not limited to me tripping and falling and bruising my knee cap or the kids not napping at the same time so it’s been hard for me to work done. But I won’t bore you all the things I could complain about all of it and why I haven’t ran since Tuesday. I have a 26 miler to run tomorrow morning and I’m running the @potomacriverrunning Leesburg 20k on Sunday morning. I’m excited to have all of this “alone” time while I run but also I just want to sleep and hide after this week. I’m forcing myself out there no matter what. Sometimes that’s what we have to do - force ourselves because we know it will be better in the long run. This is for all of you who had a tough week and just want to sleep the weekend away: I’m with you. Let’s get out there together and give our body the miles we know will help. 🥰🏃‍♀️Not all days are sunshine and rainbows but we can make something out of our day positive.

I committed to 100 days of workouts. To 100 days of self care. I knew in that 100 there would be days that weren’t perfect, because LIFE! The thing I love about this program is you do the 100 WHEN it works for you...just finish 100.

Today life threw me a curveball. I had my plan in place to workout after my early dermatologist appointment. I was going in for a skin check & thought I might have one mole that didn’t look quite right. I’ve been through this before, so I figured they’d freeze it off & I’d be done.
.
I was wrong. There was enough concern with 2 moles for them to cut them off & send for biopsy. No sweat, no submersion in water & pain today. Not what I expected, but grateful we caught it.
.
100 seemed like a huge number to finish in the beginning...but without the pressure of a strict schedule it’s been freeing, not scary. I know I’ll keep pushing alongside the other women in our Virtual boot camp to finish. Can you imagine how good you’d feel finishing 100 workouts? I would bet not only your body, but your mind would change 💕
