Lower body today with some snatches. First time sprinting in a while yesterday and the hamstrings were tore up today! Also havent hit sumo in months and despite how bad they looked it felt good getting back to em. The 245 snatch moved decent but the bar was slightly in front. Good day @armorgymknox come get this work! Accepting all clients.

It’s been a rough week! Sets 1-3 of a 4 Rep BS followed by a Jerk. Legs just didn’t want it enough on that last set. Was also happy with a heavy snatch pull double + snatch @ 84kg

3RM PRed my old 1RM this morning. It’s been a long road since my hamstring injury in August. So you can understand the nostalgia this brought me this morning. Second video is when I last PRed back in October of 2017! 150kg/330 lbs .

Ready or not, the open is here!
😱🚨
It will be the first year since 2012 (when I started crossfit) that I will not be competing #intheopen. It's bittersweet, but still excited to support friends and the community around me to push the limits during the next 5 weeks! I will admit that I'll miss the adrenaline & hype of Friday night lights, but not the inability to breathe for 20+ minutes afterwards 😂 I find lifting heavy weights at low intensity to be more so up my ally as I'm getting older.

Instagram is 99.9% success stories ✅ So here is a failure ❌ Last night I ‘clean + front squat + jerk’ 97%. Tonight I couldn’t clean 80% for shit. It took me 5 attempted sets, 4 misses and a wave back down to successfully make 3x3@80kg. Badly. Yeah I’m pissed (especially as my hamstring went afterwards and I had to admit defeat and go home), but I know I CAN clean 80. Easily. And there’s probably multiple unknown factors which simply affected tonight’s session. But that’s where it ends. I used to dwell and think that my lifting career was over 💁🏼‍♀️ - now, I’ve learnt to accept defeat, but only for the one session. You also learn to know when to just put your big girl pants on and grind through it, and today wasn’t that day. Tomorrow’s a new day!

WORK THE ECCENTRIC!

Do you control the bar back down to the floor during you deadlift or pulls? There are many benefits to controlling the bar down and working the eccentric part of the lift.
.
By controlling the descent of the bar, you can get a stronger back and legs. Since you are keeping your muscles under tension for a longer period of time. That tension is causing stress to the muscles, which then sends a signal to the brain to strengthen those muscles. There have also been studies showing that the eccentric part of an exercise is where the actual “gains’ are happening and not so much the concentric. Over time, as your back and legs get stronger through control, that is going to help prevent injury.

Now, you don’t always have to control the descent. There are a time and a place for dropping the bar from the top. For example, as a lifter preps for a competition, the emphasis is not on the eccentric. So they may be dropping the bar. And that is totally fine. You can add different types of controlled descents to your program. You can do a 3-5 second descent, you can add a pause into your descent, or our favorite is to lower the bar without it making a sound as it touches the floor.

Ich werde den Umständen entsprechend die nächsten 5 Monate mein wöchentliches Krafttraining ändern. Heißt ich werde mich dem Crossfit wittmen, denn bekanntlich eignet sich für die Steigerung der Kraftausdauer diese Sportart am besten. Das Gewichtheben werde ich natürlich nicht sein lassen.
