IMPROVE YOUR CATCH POSITION IN THE SNATCH!

A common fault we see is where lifters catch their snatch with their eyes looking and chin pointing upwards. This position is not ideal because the barbell is not properly stacked over our center of mass.
.
One reason why you may be looking upward in your snatch is because you are not pulling the bar enough as you go under. By not pulling enough, your arms don’t quite get behind your ears and the barbell doesn’t get stacked over your spine, which leaves your center mass forward. And to “correct” it, you bring your chin up to “pull” the center of mass back. This usually ends up in your walking forward to save the lift.

If this is you, first thing to do is just be aware of it and fix it if you notice this. Second, if you are not achieving this proper overhead position, work on driving the bar up and continuing to pull the bar until it gets to the right spot. If the bar is in the right spot, your eyes and chin will naturally look down.

1st training session after 2½ weeks of full stop (only some crazy push-up sessions in my room 😂). Was nice to do some lifts again. Squatted 150kg for a triple and 160kg for a double. Awesome after all this time of only walking around and dancing for leg training. 😂💪🏼😈🏋🏽‍♂

So today was a snatch today so naturally I tried out the Squat Jerk for the first time and it resulted in a lift that's 88% of my best split jerk 😂😂. Now there's two ways to see this: either I need to update my Split Jerk PB (most likely) or I am a Squat Jerk god (not likely). Fun to try!

Squat Jerk at 95 (first time)

Snatch at 85

BS triples at 142,5

Snatch Pull triples at 87,5

Lembro da minha primeira aula de CrossFit.... 🙈

A recent update in regards to the dad bod prevention protocol/“lean bulk”.

The reverse diet took much longer than predicted to get back to building muscle....not ideal.
-
Coming out of the cut with deficit calories at 2000cals I started the reverse diet at maintenance calories of 2400cals and added 100cals each week since.
-
The problem with having Lloyd Tonkin genetics is that I have only just started regaining weight in the last few weeks having just reached 3300 calories 🤷🏽‍♂️🤷🏽‍♂️

I am now concerned at how high the calories are going to have to get 😬

Current calories and macros (90% of the time) as of this week:
CALORIES - 3500
PROTEIN - 170g
CARBS - 580g
FAT - 50g
-
The reverse diet did its job however, having stayed relatively lean in comparison to if I would have completely gone off the rails and hammered the food back after being on such low cals (far too many people do this).

Every minute, on the minute, for 3 minutes (3 sets):
Press In Clean (Sots Press) x 5 reps

Followed by…

Every minute, on the minute, for 3 minutes (3 sets):
Press in Split Jerk Position x 5 reps

Build over the course of the 3 sets.

B.
Every 2 minutes, for 12 minutes (6 sets):
Slow Pull Clean + Jerk x 1 rep *Set 1 = @ 70% of 1-RM Clean & Jerk
*Set 2 = @ 75% of 1-RM Clean & Jerk
*Set 3 = @ 80% of 1-RM Clean & Jerk
*Set 4 = @ 85% of 1-RM Clean & Jerk
*Sets 5-6 = @ 90% of 1-RM Clean & Jerk (It is a regular squat clean, but, the pull from the ground to low thigh will be done at half speed. Once you get to low thigh- you can execute the extension at full speed.) C.
Every 90 seconds, for 9 minutes (6 sets):
Slow Pull Snatch *Set 1 = 2 reps @ 70% of 1-RM Snatch
*Set 2 = 2 reps @ 75% of 1-RM Snatch
*Set 3 = 1 rep @ 80% of 1-RM Snatch
*Set 4 = 1 rep @ 85% of 1-RM Snatch
*Sets 5-6 = 1 rep @ 85-90% of 1-RM Snatch (Perform a regular snatch, but, the pull from the ground to mid thigh should be at half speed. Once you get to mid thigh you can explode full speed)

Week 3 session 1 of the @jaredenderton @crossfitinvictus weightlifting program comin at you with heavy doubles up to 90% in the clean and jerk and snatch!
