Boon Oude Geuze Mariage Parfait - A true classic. Less initial acidity and a little more mellow than the original younger Geuze. Sharp green apples, pear, lemon, mellow funk, wood, grass, leather. Dry and tart on the finish
Lambic lesson #no2. Today another Blender! Gueuzerie Tilquin was founded in 2009 by Pierre Tilquin. A statistic geneticist with a fast but furious career in the best Lambic brewers of Belgium. He is the only Lambic producer in the French speaking province of Wallonia. A subject of contention in Lambic politics. His only regular beers are the Gueze in bottle and draft and his Quetsche series featuring 1yr old Lambic on plums! 2017 saw him purchase some stainless steel tanks to begin an experimental fruit series. The unusual thing to note about @gueuzetilquin is that he loves British Beer, so much so that he hosts a British Beer festival every year at the blendery, featuring many breweries from this lowly bartenders home town @drinkmoorbeer@lostandgroundedbrewers@deyabrewery & @wildbeerco
More questions on the essence of Tilquin? You know where we are ;) #lambic#sourbeer#beerlearning#funfacts#spontaneous#beerfordays#worldbeer#beer#brewing
Great way to finish the night. Pulled out an oldie but a goodie @degardebrewing
How much can a man pucker up in one night?
This baby was aged for two years in pinot noir barrels with blackcurrants. Wonderfully tart with the added roundness of barrel age.
This was last night - enjoying the sunset with our fantastic new Citrus Sour. Visit the Tap Room today to celebrate the start of summer, the launch of this beer, enjoy the lemonade stand (1-5pm) and grab yourselves a Radler! We open at noon.
Today is the day of our @brekeriet Tap Takeover! It's going to be beautiful and sunny, the perfect weather for thirst-quenching sour beers on the terrace. Doors open at 3pm, come early to get your free tasting glass. Brekeriet even brought some extra t-shirts for sale!
WOW!
Was denkt ihr...?
Why do we part the drinking pleasure in either wine or beer ?
This beer shows that this is a blurred border!
Again a Belgian beer.
It‘s the OUDE KRIEK from 3 FONTEINEN.
For me the best KRIEK beer that ever fell into my hands (sorry CANTILLION).
I just love these traditionel belgian sourbeers, matured in wooden casks on special dried cherries .
What do you think...?
There is too much wine in my feed!
Picked up a few @8wiredbrewing sours this afternoon. I figured I'd kick it off with the gap-bridging 'Once Upon A Time In Blenheim'. This is a barrel-aged lambic (it spent three years in a barrel!) and it was blended with unfermented sauvignon blanc grape juice.
There aren't many breweries that can make a sour like 8 Wired. Phenomenal complexity.
Oude Geuze, Barrel Selection “Oude Pijpen” Limited Edition, from Oud Beersel (Anno 1882). Oude Pijpen are old barrels of 650 liters that are used for lambic for generations. The barrels were used to transport port wine by boat to Belgium and later were purchased by lambic breweries. These barrels are between 60 and 120 years old and give a character of old wood to the expressive flavors of traditional Lambic. (Alc. 6,5% vol) Cheers!
Shoutout my aunt for going and grabbing 8 of these amazing Tropical Jelly King dry-hopped sour by @bellwoodsbeer for me. Amazing work guys. Gunna come stock up on OG jelly king this weekend!
Cantillon Gueuze 100% Lambic Bio
Orange zest, peach and peach seed, burnt rubber, nail polish, and oak.
Surprisingly bitter for a sour beer but well balanced between the bitterness, acidity and sweetness.
Really great beer with a couple of unusual descriptions
Russian River - Consecration Bottled 04/04/2016. One of my top 5 favorite ales. After 2 years of aging, the pop of the cork was massive and the carbonation is through the roof. Still, it poured nicely and didn't foam over. Flavor is massive but I feel that the Cabernet Sauvignon went a bit more alcoholic and as a result the Black Currants pushed forward. Same subtle and well balanced sour and tartness. Letting her warm up and dissipate some carbonation is pleasant.
First day back from Iceland. Might as well spend it at De garde.
Mission: beer tasting @blackprojectbeer
Report: delicious, spontaneous, everything you want in a sour
Haven’t posted about beer in awhile. Currently impressed with this red wine barrel aged sour ale from @boozebros. Not annoyingly tart or obnoxiously fruity. Appropriately boozy. Very well done. Cheers, friends.
