I love this sign. It is such a testament to what so many of us need, yet don’t know how to ask for – space, time to think, room to process and nurture ourselves. We often attend every event, hang out with loved ones, and go-go-go out of wanting to please everyone else and satisfy the needs of those around us. This is such a loving act, and yet it can easily leave us feeling totally depleted and drained.
Being intentional about our own needs is one of the most self-compassionate acts of kindness we can offer others and ourselves. When we take the time and space we need to recharge, refuel, and re-center, we are better able to show up fully for the people we love and, perhaps most importantly, for ourselves.
We can care for and honor our own needs *and* be kind, loving, supportive, and compassionate towards those around us at the very same time. May we remember this the next time we’re feeling the need to rest, have some ‘me’ time, and reconnect with ourselves. (also, shoutout to my fellow introverts who can probably ESPECIALLY relate to this sentiment!)
