Thank you @alzassociation for this sweet gift 😊
Earlier in the summer, my friend @amandalealavergne reached out to see whether I’d be interested in putting together some nutrition resources for the Alzheimer’s Association’s @nycmarathon fund raising team that she coaches. For many, it’s their first marathon and having the right tools to support training makes all the difference. Of COURSE I said yes, and put together a nutrition handbook for runners specific to this group’s training.
Alzheimer’s is a disease that touched my life before I was old enough to fully comprehend just how painful it is for everyone involved. @alzassociation is doing great work, not only to promote research and legislation, but to help those with the early stages of disease and provide support to caregivers. The 80 athletes on this team are working hard both to raise money to further the cause and to prepare to run their best marathon possible. It’s an honor to help out.
I’ve also had a chance to reflect through this experience and realize how far I’ve come in the past year. I feel more settled and content, and I am happy to have the time and motivation to work on side projects that are meaningful to me! 2018 was a whirlwind and full of uncertainty - 2019 is feeling a bit more secure. I’m excited to take on more of the fun stuff now that I know I can pay the bills 😉
@amandalealavergne, thank you for the opportunity and for all that you do to support this team and this organization. You’re a gem!
