Syneresis - At The Mercy of The Svn
Genre: Blackend Death Metal
The band @syneresisband asked me to review their first ever release which is available in their bandcamp (the link is in their bio).
If you are like me when you think of BDM you just automatically assume is going to sound like Behemoth and subsequently is gonna sound like shit, however that's not what happened with Synersis, they managed to merge Black and Death metal while adding some new elements (for example the alternate picking in "Saorroeng" or the darker and slower ambient in "At The Mercy of The Svn", or even faster, more aggreive in "The Eklipse") to the music that not only makes it innovating but also refreshing from what we are used to hear from this genre.
The end and begging of the songs are fantastically well crafted that if you are not attentive enough you wont notice the songs go through, except for "Saorroeng" that abruptly ends, and the next intro is made out of a drum solo.
Musically speaking I love how most of the songs have that contrast between the vocals (which btw remind me alot of David Vincent in 89) and the instruments going on. Basically, there are 2 types of vocals being the Black and Death metal usual singing technique, and 2 types of musicality being the tremolo picking well known Black Metal sound and the power chords Death Metal sound. The thing that got me really fascinated is that while the Death metal riffs are being played the singer uses the Black metal voice and vice versa, it looks like a pretty simple concept but gives a unique sound to the all thing.
One of the things that must be mentioned is how raw the album is mixed that gives the entire album somewhat a Trve Kvlt vibe. Anyways like I said the album is available on their bandcamp and you can find the link in their Bios so go give it a listen and support the new bands that are emerging!
