Interesting podcast by I listened to today. Had great insight on youth and long term athletic development, the main point I took home is the power of micro-dosing and how Bill Hawkes applies this in an academy setup. Cool to hear how Bill attempts to address the issue of early specialization even though his work environment is essentially that (youth academy for MLS team). —————————————————————
The relationship between injury prevention and performance is reinforced in a different perspective. Also liked the explanation of why certain skills are essential for youth athletes in terms of future training, performance and rehab as they mature. Examples include basic gymnastics, athletics and swimming and how they can go a long way into shaping elite level athletes for any sport.
