One of our athletes at our Newport-Mesa location performing jump back starts to work on his linear acceleration.
This drill is a great tool to have in the toolbox for athletes that need to work that top-down approach in acceleration; optimizing the forward lean during the acceleration phase without having the hip shoot too far back.
The jump back start allows the athlete to shift their hips back and explode off the ground while establishing the power line position.

We can now focus on him getting lower in his breaks and firing his legs more like pistons opposed to coming out of breaks in a cyclical leg motion.
