The inside (medial) forearm is the focal point for the common injury that is ‘Golfers Elbow’. The muscles all attach at the bony point on the inside of your elbow known as the ‘medial epicondyle’. The main muscles involved are the ‘Flexor Carpi Ulnaris, Flexor Carpi Radialis and Palmaris Longus’ which work together to flex the wrist and along with the ‘Pronator Teres’ which pronates the forearm.
The irony is that we see a lot of tennis players 🎾 with golfers elbow due to poor serve mechanics.

💥Single Leg Glute Bridge💥

💥 The single leg glute bridge is a great exercise to work on glute activation and strength. It's also a great way to increase load demand and coordination if a double leg variation is too easy

💥 Here I highlight a simple 3 level progression that can be helpful if you have difficulty controlling a standard single leg bridge or lack the strength to achieve a full and clean range of motion. Please know that there are plenty of other ways to progress or regress this exercise, and this is just one option
-
💥 The progression is:
-
🔹Level 1: Double leg concentric (going up) to single leg eccentric (going down)
🔹Level 2: Alternating isometric marching at end of range
🔹Level 3: Standard single leg bridge with knee held toward chest

🗝️ Key points:
🔹Make sure to get your heel as close as possible to your butt to limit the use of the hamstring muscles (active insufficiency) (unless you are trying to use them then it's not a big deal)
🔹Bringing the knee close to your chest helps to rotate your pelvic backward (posterior pelvic tilt), which can help you more effectively use your glutes on the opposite side (the side on the ground)
🔹These double as active hip extension mobility exercises (hip flexor and quad stretch) if you are strong enough to lift through your full range of motion
🔹Try holding for longer periods at the top to really feel the burn and improve your motor awareness of the glutes

Teach a man to run well, drills to aid in hitting efficient running positions, and ways to prevent and manage any niggles that arise: and he will run for a lifetime." ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Here, the boys learn a barefoot warm-up drill. The focus is on controlling the knee in extension, which is later applied to sprint mechanics. Plus, we sneak in some isometric work to keep growing tendons happy at the end of a long footy season.

I have recently been picking apart my running technique.....the true form treadmill is great for highlighting where you tend to cheat!! The first video shows I tend to collapse through my left core, less knee drive through my left and I tend to bring my left leg towards midline....throwing my stride balance.

The photo is to show how much I bring that left foot into the midline.

The last video demonstrates me focusing on core control and left knee drive. The arms need a little work but I am focusing step by step on improving my running technique to make it more efficient.

It’s always good to take a step back from your training and to look at where you could improve....good technique=more efficiency of movement.....which means optimal use of joint/body mechanics!!! What an amazing weekend!!! I had so much fun...went 6/9, hitting all the goals I set for myself 10weeks ago...successfully matched my 100kg Squat & 60kg Bench, and got a new 120kg Deadlift PB up off the ground! 3rd overall and some big lessons learned...I am very proud of the progress I’ve made over the past 3months since starting!

Bear Crawl - Shoulder Specific

Adding a micro band at the wrists turns a bear crawl hold from a core exercise into a shoulder destroyer!! Great exercise for early stage rehab as your hands are planted and the band forces the cuff to activate!

Just make sure that your back doesn’t “harbour bridge”

Start with 20 second holds and stay tuned for 2 progressions later this week!

And yes sometimes I do actually complete the exercises!!!

Acute mountain sickness (AMS) 🤮

Although this may feel like a mere hangover and is not life threatening, it can easily escalate and lead to either of 2 conditions -
1. High altitude pulmonary oedema (HAPE)

2. High altitude cerebral odemea (HACE)

Both of which have dire consequences including that of death ☠️ . However, using the AMS scorecard helps prevent these by recognising symptoms early and subsequently seeking swift medical care 😷. Interpreting the AMS scorecard -
Headache and scoring 3 or more :- NO FURTHER ASCENTS
Headache and scoring 3 or more without improvement :- DESCEND!! (tip for athletes - training at 2000 - 2500m has potential extra athletic gains versus training on the ground 😉 (is this doping?)) #acutemountainsickness #hace

No esporte o tempo é curto, e os exercícios e estímulos devem ser suficientes para gerar adaptação adequada no tecido lesionado como tendão, músculo etc. Além disso, devemos analisar os fatores na cadeia cinética que levam a sobrecarga do tecido. Uma vez que existe uma interdependência cinética e cinemática no sistema músculo-esquelético. ✏️✏️Na reabilitação é necessário periodizar o plano terapêutico de acordo com contexto da lesão e do calendário esportivo. ❌❌Não devemos fazer cinesioterapia aleatória. A seleção dos exercícios deve ser baseada nos itens citados no post. 💪💪O mais interessante é como o corpo responde de forma Não linear. Baixa carga = perda de tempo e Aumenta a chance de lesão, pois o atleta não tem a capacidade adequada para receber a demanda do esporte !! Assim como carga excessiva pode ser prejudicial ! 👩🎓👩🎓Achar a carga terapêutica ideal é um dos grande desafio do fisio esportivo!!! E é só através do monitoramento sistemático que encontramos essas respostas !!! .

SHORT FOOT👣

As I’ve written before about foot pains that are often due to weak and inhibited muscles of the foot.
The short foot is an exercise for the instrinsic foot muscles to help your create those strong and robust feet🏃.

Having flat feet and a fallen arch can be caused by functional reasons such as muscle
weakness and alignment dysfunctions (hips, knees etc.)
Almost every pair shoes have arch support already built in them. 👟 In some cases they are
useful but they can also cause weakness in the muscles that are supposed to make the arch when there is no external support.

Starting out this might be hard to accomplish due to poor control of these muscles but it'll get better in time.
Put your feet on the floor. Try to shorten your foot as if pulling your forefoot to your heel.

Did you know that with a big enough sample size, a statistical test will frequently produce significant results? P-value tells the reader whether the observed effects were due to chance or not. It does not ❌ tell us the size of the effect.

So even if there’s a significance (P<0.05), if the effect size is negligible, it may not have clinical significance or be meaningful to the client. This is why only relying on p-values will prove to be inadequate and may lead the readers down the inaccurate interpretation of the results (i.e., justifying expensive or time consuming treatments).

Effect size on the other hand, tells us the magnitude of the difference between groups (e.g., Small: 0.2, Medium: 0.5 & Large: ≥0.8).

Take 🏠 points: As readers 👩🏫, it’s essential to look at both p-value (by chance or not?) and effect size (how big is the difference?) to accurately 🎯 interpret the research!

The two lowest segments in the lumbar spine, L5-S1 and L4-L5, carry the most weight and have the most movement, making the area prone to injury.”

“In between vertebrae are spinal discs, which cushion the joints of the spine and provide support. Discs in the lumbar region of the spine are most likely to herniate or degenerate, which can cause pain in the lower back, or radiating pain to the legs and feet.”
