Precision and Accuracy - Part 2
In dentistry precision and accuracy ensures successful performance of treatment procedures as well as delivery of prosthetic devices to the patient, given the delicacy of oral maxillofacial region.
As illustration shows precision and accuracy are separate concepts yet come side by side. By definition:
Precision - repeatability of certain measure or result when performed over and over.
Accuracy - closeness of certain measure or result to the accepted standard.
If to describe in layman’s terms:
Precision is how often you can get 5lb reading when you weighed certain load over and over.
Accuracy is how close each reading of that 5lb to standard weight for that given load.
Now when we understand the concept of accuracy and precision we can discuss its implementation in CAD.CAM dentistry.
