Continuing our Staff Appreciation Month here at Duclos Lenses, we'll be taking a few posts to acknowledge our hard working crew that strive to provide unrivaled service to the world's cinematographers.
Next up is Laura. An artist from a very young age, Laura took up photography at the recommendation of her father who gave her a Canon AE-1. There was no turning back. Her pursuit for photography and studio art continued throughout high school and college. After college, Laura freelanced as a camera assistant on a wide variety of shoots for several years and enjoyed working in the camera department. In an ongoing pursuit for knowledge and the cinema process, Laura took a position at an established Hollywood rental house as a prep tech where she learned the inner workings of the motion picture equipment rental business. Soon after, she joined Warner Brothers Studios as an executive assistant where she worked for several years. The production life was exciting and different, but she longed to get back to the hands-on environment.
A longtime DoP friend suggested that she apply for the Junior Lens Tech position at Duclos Lenses. Laura joined our team and quickly began learning the basics. Her mechanical aptitude and diligent work ethic allowed her to breeze through our apprentice position and climb the ranks to a full fledged Lens Technician. Today, Laura serves as our Service Advisor, evaluating a wide range of incoming lenses, drafting service estimates, and interfacing with customers to ensure they receive the absolute best results possible. Her ever-increasing skill and professionalism continue to provide Duclos Lenses and the motion picture industry with outstanding results, the likes of which we take great pride in and look forward to encouraging for many years to come.
