"Just stop being sad"
Depression isn't just crying or feeling down. It's feeling nauseous all day, a racing heart while you're completely still, an aching stomach as soon as you wake up in the morning, feeling like everyone who knows you hates you, knowing very well they don't. It's abandoning your favourite activities, because nothing you do is good enough for you.It's sitting in your room, staring at the ground for hours, feeling dizzy from your own thoughts, having major headaches from overthinking, staring at old chats from friends, wanting to reach out but knowing they won't help you. It's going to work everyday, feeling empty inside but smiling at customers all day. It's sitting in class, surrounded by people and feeling like you don't fit in with anyone and you never will. It's feeling okay for a while, and then feeling like you'll never feel happiness again from one day to the other.
It's wanting to socialize but getting anxiety attacks at the thought of others judging your looks, weight or hair. It's feeling lonely on days off to the point where you feel like you'll never be loved by anyone, It's waiting for some big enlightenment that turns your life around, like you see in the movies or read in other people's recovery stories, but it won't come, and it's all your fault because you could just stop being sad.
But you can't.
And maybe that's just how your life is going to be.
All you can do, is hope that one day, maybe, just maybe, it'll get better.
So don't give up just yet.
