Total upper body workout this evening because I missed last night.

- Today still felt kind of ‘blah’ at the gym. Working OSG really wiped me out 😆 Working 60% on log tonight, training for a new 1RM so I’m really trying to force myself under the log (yeah, I know, my split sucks 😅) •
- On a better note, got my new @barbellsandpeaches apparel on tonight! Super adorable tank and comfy leggings (WITH POCKETS🥰) •
- Also, cut seems to be kicking back in gear. Had a couple weeks where I was just stagnant. 😣 Teal bra is beginning and last pic is tonight. I’m about 14lbs down total so far, since my original post. 5 more weeks to weight ins! 😬 •

‼️Coach Afi is here to teach us how mobility can open up our joints and increase our range of motion in our CrossFit movements. If you’re having any low back pain, pay attention‼️

👉🏼If you’re experiencing low back pain while doing over head movement it could be due to limited mid back (thoracic) mobility! If you do an over head movement and lack mid back mobility your low back will become mobile to compensate! (Your low back is there for stability, not mobility) This puts your back in what we call hyperextension. This results in unstable overhead movement and a lack of core engagement. Don’t worry our mobility coach is here to help!! .
1️⃣The first thing you need to do is grab a foam roller and start moving! Do what feels comfortable for you. Engage your core and let your mid back fall over the roller. .
2️⃣The Next exercise is great for opening up your chest and mobilizing your mid back. In a kneeling position tuck one hand being your head and begins to rotate up towards the ceiling. This may feel uncomfortable at first but don’t worry it will get easier!! .

Your boobs areas big as you push them up to be 🤷🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️ at home cardio, bands, yoga. Just happy things 😌😌😌 I don’t like to complain, but as a migraine sufferer, not headaches. Migraines. Turn off all lights, silence all noise, or I’m crying. They’ve become very rare. But for about two days I had the same migraine and it sucked. I went to bed way early, tried to stretch it out and relax. I knew lifting was not a good idea. I look back at the left photo (taken March 2017) and remember the girl who had completely given up on herself.⁣⁣

Chocolate chip cookie sandwiches and bags of Doritos for lunch. Completely sedentary other than being on my feet at work. Allowing my anxiety to keep me from getting out of my comfort zone. Drinking to the point of blackout 2-3 times per week like it was normal. ⁣⁣

My idea of self care was taking a shower everyday and putting on clean clothes.. ⁣⁣

I can’t even begin to tell you how important it is to take care of yourself so that you can be the amazing, capable being you already are but just need space to step into. ⁣⁣

Positive affirmations. Journaling. Getting in movement. Fueling your body. Good sleep. Saying “no” to things that don’t serve you. Setting goals that scare the hell out of you. Filling your own cup so that you show up 110% in everything you do. ⁣⁣

👆🏼 Those are the things I now know to be self care & the things I do daily so that I can take steps everyday towards becoming the best version of myself. ⁣⁣

What do portion sizes for “healthy balanced meals” look like?
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Though I believe that everyone should try weighing food for a period of time to learn what these portions truly look like, I know that’s not realistic. SO here are a few ways to get close and educate yourself on how to eat more freely!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It’s no secret nutrition labels while informative aren’t always accurate. This makes using cups and eyeballing how many servings per container a bit rougher. But these are viable options and better than nothing. So if there are 2 servings per container, try and eyeball half. Or if the serving is 1/2 cup of oats, grab a 1/2 cup and measure it out.

Probably the most efficient and no tech is the first-palm method. All you need is your hand.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
👊🏻Fist = vegetables
✋🏻Palm = protein
🤲🏻Cupped Hand = carbs
👍🏻Thumb (length)= fats
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
It’s not fool proof and can wisely be inaccurate if abused. You do need to go by the honor system. Ladies are recommended 1 serving of each (veggies you can double) and Men 2 of each per meal.

Your body hears everything your mind says..💭⁣

Think about this one for a sec..⁣

How many times in a day or week do we spend criticizing ourselves?⁣

Focusing on the things we dislike mentally or physically..⁣

And next thing we know our moods go from feeling proud and accomplished, to being not worthy, & no longer good enough😔⁣

We end up in a funk that carries on through the rest of the day that we just can’t seem to shake⁣

That’s because our bodies are listening..⁣

Think about it this way, ever notice how when we’re stressed & think about a certain situation over and over, we literally can FEEL it in our bodies?⁣

Maybe that stress leads to lack of sleep, a headache, anxiety, fatigue, binge eating, etc.⁣

The sameee type of scenario happens when we think negatively about ourselves or our appearance⁣

No, I’m not saying that if you call yourself fat you’ll magically gain weight, BUT that single subconscious thought, leads to negative ACTIONS that will follow..⁣

Skipping the gym because “what’s the point?”⁣

Diving into the whole box of cookies🍪 because this damn diet isn’t working anyways⁣

Choosing to binge watch TV instead of getting even partial meal prep done⁣

These actions end up all being the result of a single THOUGHT..⁣

So how do we fix this?⁣

Re-write your thoughts!✔️⁣

Whenever you find yourself looking in the mirror picking yourself apart, flip the script⁣

Speak the exact opposite of what you’re feeling, even if you don’t truly believe it yet⁣

Write down three things you love about yourself⁣

Things your grateful that your body gives you the simple ability to DO⁣

Start giving yourself credit for the efforts you’re putting in daily!⁣

I promise it’ll change your life✨⁣

Thank you, 2018.

It's been a crazy year for me from moving twice, having a few different jobs, leaving graduate school, getting engaged to Cosmos, us getting a puppy, and beginning to build our home.

I’ve learned a lot about what I want in life, what I don’t want, and what type of people I want to surround myself with.

5 nutrition practices to implement right now.

Not everything you’ve been told about food is true.

See, willpower is a finite thing, so when you try to control your food intake based on willpower, you will lose before long.
#
Instead, try the following:
#
• Eat the most satiating foods to suppress hunger – protein is first in this category (so load up), followed by complex carbs (think veggies, potatoes), then fats.
#
• Avoid hunger/craving triggers – combining foods that are low in protein but high in fat and starch can seriously trigger cravings later in the day
#
• Eat a combination of macronutrients (protein, fat, carb) to tame hunger and cravings – this will be more helpful than eating just one macronutrient at a time
#
• Drink only calorie-free beverages
#
• Chew your food longer – count how many times you chew before swallowing normally then aim to double it. You’ll be shocked by how much less you eat
#

This afternoon I have a work event I have to do. With it being Christmas I thought I’d dress a little “fun & funky”. My thought was my Christmas leggings, my blue jean skit, and a red or black top. I had this planned and envisioned in my head all week!!! As you can see the skirt doesn’t work. It’s waaaaay to big!! Yay and boo. Yay because it shows the results of the work I’ve put in and boo because now I’m scrambling to figure out what the heck I’m gonna wear.
