A new slang word that needs to get viral because it's Real AF !
So many of us avoid focusing on our health because of the fear of not being “good” at it when we start, or not knowing what to do, or being too self-conscious and anxious of being surrounded by people in the gym when we workout, or may be it's just the fear of getting hurt if we doing something the wrong way.
Basically, it's a never- ending loop ! We are afraid of failing, so we avoid failure by not trying in the first place.
Let me be honest! All these concerns are totally legit. But for how long are we going to let these problems get the best of us?
To overcome this initial FEAR OUT OF WORKING OUT a few simple steps can help and take the plunge!
Try these for once & dive in: - START WITH GROUP CLASSES
Anyone who is too conscious or is a beginner should start with joining group classes (can be zumba, functional training, yoga or dance etc. take your pick). When we are surrounded by people with similar intentions and see everyone making efforts. We get comfortable in our own skin and focus on what needs to be done! - BEGIN WITH LESS INTENSITY
Be it a group class or you start alone (wohoo! go GIRL), do not over exert in the beginning! Take it slow and be consistent. Then increase the intensity with daily progress. - DONT BE AFRAID TO ASK
When in Doubt ask, ask as many times as you want and understand it well. Only then will you feel more confident about what you are doing as the days go by! - TUNE OUT THE NOISE
When we enter a gym or a class, we see and hear alot of opinions, suggestions, discussions and guidance! All of this can be too intimidating in the beginning, I'd suggest - Pick a trainer, discuss your schedule and get to it. FIRST - start doing it, then begin to discuss it. - YOU DO YOU, SISTA!
Choose - Gym, yoga, pilates, zumba, dance etc. You will only do something for long if you really like it, so stop listening to opinions and choose what YOU like and get better at it each day!
