Last Thursday Canada celebrated National Indigenous Peoples Day. Being that Royal Roads University is situated on the traditional Indigenous lands, this holiday is particularly important and is celebrated yearly on Royal Roads University campus.
A lot of university students, faculty and general public came to watch the lively performances, and participated in festivities near Esquimalt Lagoon. Many international students from the Master of Arts in Tourism Management cohort volunteered by overseeing the parking area, helping with catering and looking after the performance area.
This was a wonderful event co-hosted by Royal Roads University, the Ministry of Indigenous Relations and Reconciliation, the University of Victoria and Camosun College, with support from the Indigenous Sport, Physical Activity and Recreation Council (ISPARC) and Power to Be.
