Okay, you might be tired of hearing me talk about this, but. I spilled a whole, piping hot mug of peppermint tea all over my MacBook earlier this week. It was not pretty. I said many bad words. I cried. I fumed. All of my plans and all of the work I wanted to do were suddenly put on an indefinite pause. I was forced to pause.
So Last night? I sat down with Dustin and we played two rounds of Wizard’s Chess while watching Harry Potter and then I taught him how to paint with my watercolor paints and we painted snowmen. It was magical. It was freeing. It was peaceful.
So yes, while I’m counting down the days until I get my MacBook back, I’m grateful for the reminder that there is more to life than the internet. I’m grateful for the break I’ve been “forced” to take. I’m grateful for quiet evenings spent playing games and painting and reconnecting with my favorite human on the planet.
I challenge you take some time to unplug this holiday season, to look up at the things you have right in front of you and to reconnect with the people who mean the most. It’s amazing what a little break from the world can do for the soul.
