I had to learn Cynthia Lin arrangement 76 from scratch in the past two days, and then I went and played it in the dark. Sorry. Weird how, despite my nineties love of ska and punk, I didn’t previously know “Santeria” (1996), by Sublime’s Bradley Nowell, Bud Gaugh, and Eric Wilson. The Aimée Allen cover is the reason this one gets played on the ukulele so often, right? It’s cool, too. I spun off from Cynthia’s suggested backbeat strum after listening to her version but kept the backbeat for this recording.
Of course, Cynthia is always coming up with new arrangements, and I’m sure I’ll have another one to share soon (actually, there’s a lesson tonight on “You’ve Got a Friend"), but I think this completes my current collection of her arrangements! The rest of my printed CL sheets are for Holiday songs and Beatles numbers, and I’ll get to those in a bit… Thanks for joining me on this journey! #ukulele #ukulelecover #santeria #sublime #ripbradleynowell 🔮 Full song on YT (link in bio).
