Sukhothai Historical Park, Sukhothai, Thailand 🇹🇭 Doesn’t this look similar to Ayutthaya? You check out my previous post of Ayutthaya and compare the two.
Sukhothai Historical Park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Sukhothai was the capital of the first Kingdom of Siam in the 13th and 14th century.
It was at this time that the beginnings of Thai architecture can be seen. The best example of this early Thai architecture is the Sukhothai Historic Park. This historic complex was built with ancient local influences called the ‘Sukhothai style.’ The most famous monastery here is the Mahathat Wat. This Wat was the Royal temple. It has its own royal cemetery.
This area is surrounded by a few ponds and more of such beautiful ancient structures some of which are relatively intact and others in ruins.
I’m sure it’ll be an experience walking across the Sukhothai Historic Park.
