I'm betting those of you who know how scattered I've been lately thought I'd forgotten to make my gratitude post today. But all day I've been trying to decide if this was what I wanted to say or not. I've decided to go for it... Today in church I was able to attend the women's meeting and the sister missionaries taught the lesson. It was a good one about taking care of our new converts and less active members...and the sisters all made valid points about how we should love them, help them understand the gospel, be their friends and more... As I sat there I felt like everyone was missing another point. What about the individual who is active, fulfills their callings, but still feels alone? What about the person who feels like what they do at church doesn't matter and wonders why they even bother?
I think we need to pay attention more and try to reach out to those people who seem closed off or isolated, too. It may not be that they are unfriendly or unreachable. It may just be that they are shy, lonely, sad, or grieving, etc.
So to my friends at Church who have truly made me feel welcome and appreciated in the short time that we've been in the wards that we have - thank you. You didn't have to be my friends, but I'm oh so glad you are...
