Russia: Pelmeni (meat filled dumplings)
This recipe was delicious but, almost caused my partnership to end. Mr. chicken is always in charge of pasta dough. Once, years age, I asked him to help and I’ve never been able to take that pasta wheel out of his hands since. This recipe was quite sticky and I’m not sure if it something I did wrong or if the recipe is simply this way but, it caused some consternation when we rolled it out.
The recipe itself was… Fine. I think that was more about my execution than anything. This is the first time I’ve ever made a folded pasta style ravioli. (Or whatever it’s called) Overall I think I made the dough too thick or I didn’t cook it long enough or something. In the past I’ve made a lot of really great stuffed pasta and this is the recipe I perhaps won’t repeat. Though they were delicious in the soup (see pic 3)
I can however see the appeal of this recipe. I’m sure if I babushka made it it would be as spectacular as the blog made it out to be. It’s recipe I would try again if I had someone helping me do it. If you got any tips or tricks to making it again let me know!
