Carson and I are at the roller skating rink for his birthday today. Yesterday was the senior night basketball game and all I can think about is Annie. All I want is to see her again. “Hayden. Hayden!” I hear Carson yell at me. “What?” He's smirking at me mischievously. “People are going to start showing up any second.” He rented out the whole place for the five people he invited. He invited Rush, Rush’s sister, Brooke, Johnny, his sister, Lauren, and me and I saw them all walk in. I guess it's time to stop my daydreaming. I was skating with johnny when I saw her. Carson was in roller skates and rolled up to greet Katie and Annie. By the time I got around the rink again Annie and Katie had just gotten on I started to go faster to catch up to Annie. Just as I got behind her she began to fall but I caught her just before she hit the floor. “Careful there Annie.” I tell her jokingly while she gets her balance again. “I am perfectly capable Hayden.” She says just before she loses her balance. I grab her hand to keep her on her feet. “Thanks.” She giggles. I go to let go of her hand but she once again loses her balance but falls before I can catch her this time “Maybe you need the wall.” I suggest. “But the wall is lonely.” She looks up at me hopefully so I offer her a hand to stand up and I don't let go. The whole time I'm skating with Annie I feel Carson and Katie's eyes on me. “Oh my gosh let's go play skee ball!” Annie throws the idea out there and she tries to pull me off the rink. Before she loses balance again I scoop her up in my arms and carry her off the rink. I set her down on a chair once we get off. “Why didn't you put me here instead of on the ground?” She questions me. “Because I'm not letting you play skee ball in roller skates.” She rolls her eyes at me and tries to stand up but I kneeled down and started undoing the knot in the laces and taking them off for her along with my own. In our socks we bought some tokens and picked a skee ball machine. “Are we working as a team or against each other summerall?” Annie asked me. “Against each other.” I decided confidently.
