Even today, the rich fishing grounds in the Vesterålen and Lofoten area are widely known, especially for cod fisheries.🐟 In this district, stockfish production was a common preservation method which was used here, extending beack to the early Iron Age.
📖Stockfish is mainly a product of cod, but also other types of fish. In order to produce stockfish, the fish was gutted, its head removed, and then it was hung on wooden racks, to dry by cold air and wind.🌬️
