Hoo boy, talk about a long post for Daisho!
Takumi was the second cosplay I've ever made, like...ever. I've done a few modifications here and there, but he was the first big project I took on. He took about 5 months to finish, but I'm so happy with the end product.
For Daisho, I wanted to take a step out of my comfort zone and challenge myself. I entered the boi into the cosplay contest to spite of all the insecurities running around in my head. ...And got bumped to advanced when I went to prejudging. I'd never competed, never even watched a contest before, but the people judging kept telling me they wouldn't have bumped me there if the work didn't belong there. Yikes!
Obviously, I didn't place, but at that point, I didn't even care. The fact that the judges even bumped me was enough to throw me over the moon. Everyone in the contest was so supportive and positive that I can't think of any other adjectives but 'fantastic'. I'm so glad I entered, honestly, and the biggest S/O goes to @orangecorgi_jess for helping me through the pre-(and during, and post) con jitters. I'm so grateful for her support, her work constantly inspires me to be better.
Thank you to everyone who supported me in this, and to everyone who read this far. It was a fantastic time.
