The year was 2011 when I asked my friend @behroozwithoutz to make me a metal choker, before my departure from Tehran and moving out to London. And of coarse she added a creative touch to my choker by adding tiny colorful stones :) I never forget the endless jokes and comments I received from friends and strangers about my choker while I was still in Iran. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t get offended easily. As the matter of fact I laughed along and called it my collar; I’m my own master.
Funny enough a year went by and choker took over the fashion industry. No one laughed anymore, everyone imitated and bought their own chokers.
I don’t think I influenced the fashion industry, or maybe I did :) Being a teenager in the 90’s, choker was a thing back then too, but on a smaller scale.
I don’t sit around waiting for the fashion industry to dictate what I should and shouldn’t wear. Knowing myself and my body, I have an eye for what I find appealing, something that is me at that time and place in my life, and I always follow my desire, listening to that voice in my head. For me, dressing up has always been a joy of life.
