For complex projects, there are many parties with a stake in the game. The Owner’s are looking for an end product that provides value and makes a statement. The Design Team wants to see their vision come to fruition. The Builders want to execute the work that they do best and show it off.
When we take on complex projects it can be wildly beneficial to have a partnering workshop beforehand. This workshop will allow
1. Clearly Define the Roles - Understanding each other’s roles on the project will give you respect for each other’s challenges, admiration for their hard work, and also let you know how you can help them out to be successful.
2. Create a Group Vision - Having one vision as a team let’s the group run towards an end goal at full force. The shared vision has success, pride, and financial benefit for all parties. As in any venture in life, having a clear sense of purpose for you effort can make or break the achievement.
3. Create a Team Action Plan - Now that you have a clearly defined team, a clear group vision, you can set the action plan. The action plan provides transparency in each other’s work, a better flow of work, and ultimately a more efficient and safer job site.
HOWEVER, the most important thing is to remember to build, work and CELEBRATE as a team. Construction is one of the most complicated, complex, and rewarding undertakings we can take in. So remember to highlight the wins, take time to acknowledge each other, and celebrate as a team! If not, what the heck are we doing it for?! #projectengineer #projectmanager #knowingishalfthebattle #craftconstructionknowledge #construction #partnering #team #designer #aec #generalcontractor #architecture #architect #owner #teamwork #plandocheckact #plandostudyact
