Following a cut in its workforce of 9% due to financial instability, Tesla is looking to close down a dozen facilities in nine states, according to reports from three internal documents and several former and current Tesla employees, reports Reuters.
Despite the shutdown there are still about 60 installation facilities remaining open, according to an internal company list reviewed by Reuters. An internal company email named 14 facilities slated for closure but another list included only 13 of locations.
There has been no comment from Tesla so far. The number of employees who will lose their jobs or the percentage of the solar workforce they represent has not been disclosed. The company said that cuts to its overall energy team, including power storage batteries, were in line with the broader 9% staff cut. “We continue to expect that Tesla’s solar and battery business will be the same size as automotive over the long term,” the company said in a statement to Reuters. #telsa #business #7D #7Dnews
