Your tongue is a sign of your health.

I was messing around and took this picture. Looking at it, I noticed how healthy my tongue looked. That sounds weird but it didn't always look "healthy". It used to have white and red splotches. It looked that way for years. I always wondered why it looked that way. I never found out. I was generally a healthy person. .
It wasn't until I changed to a vegan diet that my tongue cleared up to an even-toned pink hue. Maybe that was just a coicendence. Maybe not. I experienced a number of other changes that were a direct result of switching to a plant-based diet. .
I'm not here to tell you that you have to eat vegan. Each person has to make that choice for themselves. I did a lot of research and, it was the best decision for my health. -
I am here to share my experience. Once I changed my diet, a number of issues went away. My acne went away. I suffered from cystic acne since I was 15. No more reflux. No more digestive issues. My cholesterol went down. My triglycerides went down. I lost weight. I had more energy. I didn't need deodorant anymore. I still use natural deodorant but I don't need it!
Overall, I just felt better. -
It's one of the best decisions I've made for my health. It's easier to do than you may think. .

This cookbook. Highly recommend!!

For a while now I’ve toyed with the idea of switching to a whole foods, plant-based diet. I’ve read “The China Study,” by T. Colin Campbell, seen “Forks Over Knives,” and follow nutritionfacts.org. All of the research is quite compelling; not only in terms of fighting cancer and reducing risk, but also fighting a whole host of other diseases, too. Food is medicine, people!

So, I’ve once again attempted to cut back on meat and dairy — but, admittedly, real milk lattes, ice cream, and sour cream are my weaknesses and I haven’t been able to find good alternatives. Not to mention that I don’t want to be THAT guest who doesn’t eat anything that has been graciously prepared and offered by friends and family. .

I have yet to fully adopt a WFPB diet because I’ve struggled to find a lot of recipes that appeal to me and don’t require loads of unusual ingredients or excessive amounts of prep and planning. It also seems WFPB peeps and recipe makers love their cilantro and insist on including it as a key ingredient in many dishes. (There have got to be other ways to add flavor!) But, I digress. These are all just excuses, really.

Enter: the “Oh She Glows Cookbook.” Every recipe I’ve tried from this has been fantastic and relatively easy! Great as written, but also easy to adapt to my personal taste preferences. A little more of this, a little less of that. Bam! Deliciousness on a plate.
.

Although I’ve not completely converted to a no meat, no dairy, plant-based diet, this is giving me some great meal options to take things one step closer to it. Again, highly recommend!

Just sharing what I have found to be valuable information as i grow along spiritual lines. Going on 4 months strong 💪🏻 sustainable Vegan 🌱 cooking & eating! The only diet proven to reverse heart disease in the majority of patients is a whole foods, plant based diet. Heart disease is the #1 cause of death in humans. My genetics are what they are. Both of my biological parents were practicing, functioning alcoholics who died young of their disease. My dad had a heart attack @ 48 and died immediately. The drinking didn’t help that situation. My mom was 52 when she died of alcoholism. I live my life to the absolute fullest each and every day, one day @ a time doing things a little differently than my parents did for my benefit, my families & for Sam. I’m present and woke AF & I wouldn’t want it any other way! Get your legumes in! Legumes are super delicious and amazing for our bodies. First, they are packed with protein which answers the dreaded question when one mentions they eat a plant based diet.. where do you get your protein? 😂. They are packed with nutrients including B vitamins, iron, zinc, calcium and magnesium. They are an amazing food for blood sugar control, if not the best food out there to do so. They are loaded with fiber which helps keep you full, lowers cholesterol and keeps your gut healthy! Lentils are one of my most favorite legumes, super easy to cook and very versatile! Drinking our daily dose of celery juice to heal our body.
Eating vegan might not be for everyone, which is ok, however vegan or not eating fruits and veggies every single day is so important for your health. If you are symptomatic in any way, such as chronic headaches, fatigued, joint pains, acne, dry skin, digestion issues, high blood pressure..I mean there are a million symptoms people experience every single day and just brush it off or cover it up with medication, however that’s only masking the issue and temporarily relieving symptoms, it’s not curing the problem. Every single symptom a person experiences is your body’s way of telling you there is something going on in the inside, its how the body communicates with you to let you know it needs healing. Fruits, veggies, herbs, all have such powerful healing benefits. And every fruit, veggie and herb has different healing benefits for specific issues. Think of it as your medicine. Doctors tell you to take your medicine when youre sick right? Same idea. Instead of popping pills, pop some grapes or cherries....but in reality it’s not as simple as eat a grape and your symptoms are healed. You most likely experience symptoms because you have spent decades polluting your body with crap food, poor quality meat, dairy, eggs, heavily processed foods filled with chemicals, etc. So healing your body with whole plants is going to take time and serious dedication...but it’s absolutely possible. If you can change your mentality on food and what it does to your body, it’ll forever change the way you eat. Once you are symptom free and feel good and healthy, indulging in a guilty pleasure is ok...but here’s a secret, when your body is super clean, you actually will no longer have dairy, wheat, or processed sugar cravings....you’ll probably just want a super delicious banana nicecream (which is bomb btw, just blended smooth frozen bananas to resemble ice cream)

Traveling and maintaining a whole foods plant-based diet is not easy. Green salads and oatmeal get boring and unsatisfying quickly. Pretty thrilled to find this coconut milk chia seed pudding with mixed berries at our resort for breakfast. Lots of fresh chopped fruit and veggies, too. You can always find or make something healthy and delicious while traveling. No excuses.

・・・ GUILTY! Monsanto LOSES lawsuit against school groundskeeper Mr DeWayne Johnson. Johnson’s lawyer presented internal company documents proving that Monsanto knew that the herbicide glysophate (particularly Round Up) was causing cancer in people. Jury rules that Monsanto was indeed responsible for causing Mr Johnson’s cancer. Monsanto has a history of bullying independent researchers into silence. I hope this opens the eyes of people who still believe glysophate is safe. Side note: Monsanto is now owned by Bayer (Big Pharma) and plans to rebrand itself.

It’s a little late, but I finally got my certification from T. Colin Campbell’s Center for Nutrition Studies on July 13, 2018!

Ever since I started my fitness journey, I always asked questions on what to eat or what to avoid. Which is the best diet? Am I getting enough protein? Do carbs really make us fat? Every time I search on Google, I get different answers, sometimes saying opposite things.

I am in the middle of reading The China Study. It is taking me way longer than it should, simply because it is hard to find the time to read inbetween being a mom and having a full time job. However, it is a very interesting read, and points out several great health reasons to adopt a plant based diet. One of them is weight, which for many perhaps is a more relatable reason than cancer, diabetes etc. So many struggle with too much weight, and they try all sorts of diets only to see little if any result and then giving it up because restriction is not a reasonable solution long term. So what if you didn't have to restrict yourself or go hungry half the time? What if you could eat as much as you want (maybe even more than you eat now) and still lose weight? Sounds like magic right? Well it's not. It's just plants people - Mama Nature's gift to human kind. Eat right, and your body will know what to do with it. Mama Nature has it all figured out for us, and she is probably quite frustrated that we still insist on always taking matters into our own hands, even when the outcomes are obviously not great for anyone.
