10 albums that impacted me in 10 days.. nobody nominated me, and im not about to nominate anybody. Plus here is an explanation.
Things fall apart - The Roots Before this album came out I was a casual "yeah they dope" roots fan. Post hearing this album I became a full on roots fan, and I have loved every album since. I played the album straight through. So much that I don't even know many of the songs by title.
I remember first hearing the music to "the next movement," and thinking about how I'd love to make something like that someday. The different features are great, especially "act too." And then I hear what would go on to become my all time favorite hip hop song "you got me." The snare pick up note, the music, the double time part. The fact that it's just a great song. It's so much more than "just" a hip hop song.
The roots are my all time favorite hip hop group, and black thought is #2 on my favorite MCs list. Without this album I would not be the fan I am.
And on top of that, had I not heard this album, I would not have become a fan of the roots. I would not have gone to see them at the house of blues here in Las Vegas. Had I not gone to watch them, I would not have seen the group that opened for them. Had I not seen that group, I would not have gone to their monthly open mic jam. And had I not gone to that open mic jam i would not have began playing with The Chapter. Which gave me some good memories and some great experiences.
Thank you "things fall apart"
