Simple Saturday baking. I don’t bake very often as I think about how it’s just the two of us at home and we will have to eat it all. .
But then I want a treat so will go out and buy a packet of biscuits πŸͺ and we eat them all.

This cycle is ridiculous and needs to be changed. I can bake something and not have all the additives. Just good simple homemade baking. .
I haven’t modified the recipe at all, but you could if you wanted too.
.
Just butter, sugar, flour, egg and some jam. It was supposed to have vanilla but I didn’t have any.
.
They are delicious, and taste just liked nana’s used to.
.
They’re not β€˜guilt free’ or β€˜sugar free’ or what ever free we like to label treats to make us feel better.
.
They are a treat, pure and simple. I don’t eat all of them at once and I don’t have them everyday. I’m not going to feel guilty for eating them with a glass of milk πŸ₯› .
Treats are good for your soul, diets, restrictive eating behaviours and guilt isn’t.

Simple pumpkin, spinach and feta quiche, as promised. #delish

These little beauties were so easy to make and tasted so much better than the store bought ones last week.
.
Recipe: roasted pumpkin until soft and sweet πŸŽƒ, blind bake your short crust pastry cases for about 10mins on 160’c in a fan oven. I used the little tins from the quiches I bought last week. I used half a pastry sheet in each with a little left over.
.
Then fry a little onion, capsicum, garlic and spinach until soft. .
Put the pumpkin and onion mix into the base of the pastry cases. Sprinkle in some crumbled feta.
.
Beat 3 eggs and here’s where I did some #recipemodification and replaced the cream with 3 tablespoons of Greek yoghurt to reduce the calories a bit. Pour this into the pastry cases and sprinkle some Parmesan on top. Cook about 30 mins until set and browned. #yumyumyum .
Great little dinner recipe. .

Back to an old favourite, meat balls ⚽️. These are so quick to make and taste great. You can also eat them cold so perfect to add to veggies πŸ₯¦πŸ₯•πŸŒ½or salad πŸ₯— πŸ₯’πŸ…

I use super lean mince, 1 egg, seasoning and some breadcrumbs. Mix together and bake for about 20mins until golden brown and cooked through.
.
Macros for this lunch are 1960kJ, 33g protein, 19g fat and 38g carbs. .
Carbs are coming mostly from the brown rice, if you want more or less carbs adjust the rice portion to suit your needs.
.
Staples are eggs, @yoproau and @sanitarium_au Up&Go πŸ˜‹.

I started my new job last week and have a longer commute. I’ve noticed I am starving on the drive home so have added some extra snacks of trail mix and pretzels πŸ₯¨ to stop me raiding the cupboard when I get home. Nothing spoils your well planned out day than going past the point of hungry to hangry 😜 and you will just grab anything that is in front of you. There is no holding back when you are hangry πŸ˜„ everything in the cupboard is fair game.

Fermented foods can help support the good bacteria that live in our gut. They assist with digestion and breakdown of nutrients from our diet. Without these wonderful bugs 🐞 πŸ› we may suffer from irritable bowel syndrome, diarrhoea, bloating, wind πŸ’¨ and generally a grumbly tummy. A diet high in processed foods 🍰🍫🍦🍭πŸͺdoesn’t provide the much needed fibre to support this bacteria and can lead to overgrowth of not so good bacteria.

@simpletribe it’s quite a tasty turmeric latte with a subtle cinnamon taste. There is a very slight pepper aftertaste but it’s not unpleasant.
