Real talk: do you love pageants? Enjoy being on stage? Do you shine in that evening gown, as you effortlessly glide across the stage. Does your confidence soar in onstage question? Can you ramble off facts about your favorite former/forever local, state, or national titleholder? Do you have a favorite former/forever...? Pageantry is more than the crown. It is a lifestyle. .
I know you want the crown. I know you want to be able to spread your platform wider and reach more people. I know you want the opportunity to compete for the state/national title. Maybe you want a place to show off your talent. Maybe you really want the scholarship money. But all of those things are only a part of competing. Each piece comes together like a puzzle. Does the pageantry puzzle, as a whole, make you happy? .
If you do not enjoy pageantry, why are you doing it? Don’t let yourself get caught up in what you think you are supposed to do, because your mom or big sister was a Miss So-and-So, or you’re an incredible violinist. If you do not wholeheartedly love pageantry it will show in your performance. Don’t sacrifice your happiness to fill one void in your life. There are other ways to spread your platform message. There are other ways to earn scholarships. There are other ways to perform your talent. .
Give it 100%, or you’re only cheating yourself.
