WHAT’S THE BIG DILL?
This is my first recipe creation with dill and attempt at making a garden-like drink from scratch. The partial salad includes organic fresh dill & cucumber, and organic basil-flavored vodka paired with herbal liqueur Green Chartreuse, which I have learned is marvelous drunk straight (chilled) to bring out all the flavor. This was another post-midnight special and I think I got what I felt tasted like the right balance after 8 tries.
Also — if you follow my posts, you know that I’m a BIG fan of @squareoneorganicspirits. I can’t say enough about the silky-smooth texture and clean flavor of Allison Evanow’s vodkas. They’re exquisite, both as a base in drinks and so excellent that you can sip them neat.
Recipe - 8 ingredients ::
• 1.5 oz basil vodka @squareoneorganicspirits
• 1/2 oz Green Chartreuse @chartreuse_uk
• 1/4 oz Velvet Falernum
• 1 oz lime juice
• 1 egg white
• 2 sprigs of dill
• 2 cucumber slices & 1 spear for garnish
• 2 pinches of Himalayan Pink Salt Crystals @traderjoes
How to make ::
Chill your coupe glass (you can just put it in the freezer until you see frost on it). Muddle 2 slices of cucumber and 1 generous sprig of dill in simple syrup with a pinch of Himalayan Pink Salt Crystals. Add basil vodka, Green Chartreuse, Velvet Falernum, lime juice, and egg white. Dry shake for 45 seconds. Then fill shaker halfway with ice and shake for a good 30 seconds. Strain into chilled coupe glass, and garnish with dill sprig(s) and salted (the other pinch) cucumber spear.

This lounge bar at the hotel mezzanine is often overlooked, competing with its younger brother #BrokenShaker on the rooftop. Make no mistake: go to the rooftop for the views, come to George Washington Bar for an interesting cocktail program.
