Story behind “Morocco with Nezik”
I am from Morocco. I travel to Morocco at every opportunity to see my family and friends, and to stay connected to my roots. .
A few years ago, my son and I went to Rabat together to visit family; at the time he was 9 years old. He was born in Canada. He was extremely home sick
The only time he was happy was when we went to the beach.
So for few weeks, we went to the beach everyday for the whole day. At first everyone from my family joined us. A few days in, it was only him and I and the life guards and people of the world. 💫
We became a fixture in the beach; the life guards became my friends. .
People noticed that I spoke different languages and from my station on the beach I became an information point for travellers and tourists. .
I was there every day for several weeks, at the edge of the water, having fun and meeting lots of travellers. Some of them would come back to tell me that they loved my recos, and to invite me to join them for a meal, or for their adventures, but I couldn’t as my son was only happy at the beach in the water. .
For a few weeks while my son was having the time of his life in the waves, I was a photographer, translator, travel consultant... Then I had a "what if" moment. What if I design experiences and lead people?
That’s how this idea started.
Since then I have been designing trips and leading tours. #moroccowithnezik
