“I know you’ve been praying - this is the big moment.” That was a text from our regional coordinator. Our host girl was a few months from aging out of the orphanage. The P143 interviewer was hesitant to even to list her for hosting due to her age, but felt she couldn’t give up on a child who so desperately wanted to come. Our coordinator had always been open and honest with us, explaining the possibility of travel visa denial due to her being older. We were grateful for the transparency. When our coordinator’s text came, I cried for this child we had never met. Three months of prayers had knit our hearts to this girl. No one ever gave up - everyone fought for this child! She DID come and all summer long, we poured love into our girl. So many nights, my husband and I would look at each other before we fell asleep and say, “Can you believe she is here? Sleeping in her room down the hall? God is so good.” Messages from her are now the high point of our days. In us, she gained a sounding board, a listening ear, an anchor that reminds her that she is never alone.
