Where do you thrift ?
Honestly. I thrift close to my house bc I’m a lazy fucker, and sometimes don’t want to drive. If I’m feeling particularity motivated, I will google “thrift store” & go to one I haven’t gone to before. It’s like a new adventure every time. I put on a playlist, pack a granola bar & drive off into the smoggy pollution-y sunset.
How do you find such good items ?
I don’t all the time. At all. I leave empty handed a lot of the time. I leave empty handed and feel DEFEATED and it makes me want to poke everyone in the eyeball.
What are some tips ?
Be consistent. Stalk the employees when they bring out a new cart. Give them the hairy eyeball if need be. Go early in the AM when the store is fresh. If an item is damaged, you bet you’re going to ask for a discount!!! Honestly, it sometimes boils down to luck. Right place, right time. Oh ya. Last thing. Don’t be an asshole to the employees. They’re told how to price things. They follow whatever guideline they’re given. So ask for a manager if you’re really POd about something. Also. If you drop something off a hanger, pick it the fuck up & hang up ur shit. Don’t be an asshat. HOWEVER. Sometimes everyone needs to just take a DEEP breath & stop being reDONK. When I was 16, I had a job at winners. I was such a derpshow. Still am. Anyways. I was working cash, making $10.50 an hour, when this rude ~40 year old lady came up to me with a sweater. It literally had one stray thread, but she demanded a discount. So I’m like “ok, I’ll call a manager for that”. She’s backpeddling like “oh no never mind it’s fine, don’t worry”. Like lady, I don’t get paid enough to deal with ppl like you. So I was like “NO WORRIES I’ll get the MaNaGeR over here”. *MaNaGeR to till 6 please*. So the MaNaGeR comes over, and is like ? And I’m like ? And the lady is like ? So I’m like she wants a discount because of this *points to thread*. The MaNaGeR is like ya no. So don’t be ridiculous if you want a discount. Like if it’s damaged fine. But a THREAD ? So anyways. I don’t know where I’m going with this story. So I’m going to end this here. Thank you and have a nice day.
