“I think it would be nice to go out,” I say absentmindedly as I watch him set his jacket across the back of one of the kitchen chairs. “Who would watch the kids?” he starts to loosen his tie. The one with the red and white design that I got him on his birthday years ago. We had some good times with that tie.
I raise an eyebrow, “The girls are old enough to watch Ben on their own. They are sixteen now. Sharleen can just spend the night here, it will make it easier on everyone,” his tie glides to one side, then off, settling on top of the jacket. “I suppose you’re right,” he says. I watch almost hypnotized as the buttons come undone slow, and with sure fingers, “They’re old enough to have that responsibility, and we are only one car ride away if the phone were to ring,” he says assuredly.
“What are you doing home so early?” the question is asked with a somewhat distracted air. The shirt is hanging open, and I can’t recall if Allen has always looked this good. “I found that I was too distracted with wanting you to actually work. I took the rest of the day off. We better make the most of it before Ben gets home. Don’t you think…?” Allen & Lana - HIS ♤
