Prior to coming to Grand Palace for the Royal Crematorium, we did a little homework including reading travel blogs. I hope this post helps you if you are visiting the Grand palace this month!
There's a couple of ways I would go about, either board the express boat from Saphan Taskin BTS station or the most direct way is to board a public bus no. 503 from Victory Monument BTS. It costs me 30 baht two way and I personally love bus ride! Took us 45 minutes includes bad traffic. This will be the last stop so you don't have to worry about missing stop/s. Once arrived, work straight until you see Royal Hotel on the opposite road. The grand palace is always on your right but the entrance to it is at least 10 - 15 minutes from the bus station. Get ready to show your passport upon entry. Dressed appropriately and respectfully. We queued for about 30 minutes on a typical weekday. It was well organised and considerate to all visitors. We received sandwiches and water as well. You can see mostly local Thais including students and army men etc. Thankfully no tourists unloaded by buses come here. Highly recommended to visit if you are travelling easy. Pay respect to the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej, know him at a personal level and his great influence to today's Thailand and its people. Awe-inspiring indeed. •
