Here’s a musing for you (maybe an amusing musing because my thoughts are rarely organized): are the things that society/the world use to determine success the same things you use to determine success? I would say I hope not, but not in a condescending, patronizing way, because it’s hard to get away from that ideology. I think it’s time to claim what we’re going to allow to calculate our success. So for me, I see success as fulfilling passions in your life, whether that’s the journey you’re on or the office you’re currently sitting in; whether you make money from your passion, or your passion is seeing your grandkids on the weekend. Our success may look different, but they are one in the same. Let’s encourage each other to be successful, but not with our own terms. Do something you’re passionate about regardless of what others think about it. If you’re passionate about gardening, then garden. If you’re passionate about swimming, then swim. If you’re passionate about movies, so see a movie. Maybe make one. Be successful on your own terms.
