Ljubljana! We spent the last few days exploring this stunning city. We walked to the Ljubljana Castle, where we got to climb up to the viewing deck and see an insane view of the city from up there! The castle also had a lot of other great little exhibitions on, and the grounds around it on the walk up were amazing! We were really glad we took the chance to walk up instead of taking the Funicular and missing a really stunning walk (though we did take the Funicular down, because who wants to walk that twice!? 😂). We walked through the city, seeing the Dragon bridge, multiple of the town squares and the Tripe Bridges as well! Something really unique about this city is that they’ve banned cars from the centre of the city, so you can walk around without worrying about a car hitting you 🚙🚙 Though we did almost get hit by two cyclists instead! Ljubljana is also a very green city! There are trees all over the place and the Tivoli Park is huge and quite near the city centre, we were staying quite near there so we got to walk through the park multiple times, walk to an old pink church and also visit the Zoo! All of these things were within the confines of the park, it really is unreal that it’s in the centre of the city. Some of the walks literally feel like you’re somewhere really remote, you can’t hear cars or people, and you’re surrounded by nature! 🌲🌳🌿
This city was a really nice surprise and is definitely one of the more laid-back and quiet cities that we have visited. I would recommend it to anyone who wants a break from real tourist hot spots, Ljubljana is just as fantastic, but without all of the crazy tourist traffic!
