Reading this reminded me of one thing that happened in a comment section last week. I was looking through a self care account and one of the posts said something about how depression can make you do things like stay in bed w/out showering or changing clothes for days etc. etc. Well the ENTIRE comment section was filled with people talking about how bs that was and how that's just completely gross. One comment in particular stuck out to me and it was something like "I have depression and that's a total lie. If you do that then you're just lazy, get out of bed, clean yourself, and get a job😩." Tbh this all made me so mad, just because you experience something one way doesn't mean all people experience it the same way. In my personal experience my depression CAN make me literally stay in bed for days. I can't even care about basic hygiene, eating, or drinking. It's just me laying in the same position, my body feeling physically heavy, and my feelings completely numb. I'll just sleep or blankly stare at a wall all day long. Of course that's not how it always is for me and obviously not everyone experiences that. There's other factors that can play into mental illnesses as well, don't always assume everyone is the same copy and paste of eachother (also I'm writing this at 3am and I'm like half asleep so sorry for any mistakes, I'll edit this in the morning,, gn)
💙Take care of yourself!
