“If I’m shining everybody gonna shine.”
Who here has taken the enneagram test? What type are you?? 🌲
I’ve taken the test probably 10 times and I’ve gotten a strong type 2 every time. That always surprises me, because I don’t feel like I am selfless. I’m a few of the negative things about type 2s (needy, helpful in a desire to be loved, etc.) but until our loss I wasn’t necessarily empathetic. Actually, I’ve always had more of a bull in a china shop personality. 😬 🌲
I’ve noticed that the better I am at being consistent with a routine that is best for my own mental health, the more I AM a type 2. The less overwhelmed I am by life, the more I can do for my family and friends. It’s not rocket science, but this thought has served me well. I show up as the person that I consider to be my “best self” when I make sure that I am healthy and my own needs are met. 🌲
Is this something that is lacking in your life? Maybe it’s time prioritize. My motto is, “If it’s not adding to my life, it’s taking away.” Sometimes this looks like me choosing to take Ellie out of gymnastics for a while because it’s too hard to get there every week. Sometimes this looks like setting healthy boundaries with family or friends. (My mom should probably set her own boundary with my phone calls because I call her every day 🤣) if you are constantly overwhelmed, you’re going to be more resentful than helpful and that’s not good for anyone! If you’re this type of person, I challenge you to reevaluate and see where things could change. I promise you, it’s worth it!
