Today our twin boys turned one month. Gosh, how time flies. I must say being first time parents to #twins ISN’T easy. Parenthood alone is an adjustment and then on top that you’re adjusting your life around TWO little humans. Here’s a few things I’ve learned from the jump— .
1. Everyday is a LEARNING PROCESS. When it comes to parenting, there is always something to learn each and every day. You’ll make mistakes and you’ll forget things. What worked yesterday may not work today and with twins, what works for one twin may not work for the other. Be patience and flexible and understand that there is no such thing as a perfect parent. You’ll constantly evolve, learn, and grow.
2. Communication is ESSENTIAL. It’s so important that my hubby and I communicate to each other when we’re tired, need a break, or need help. Our spouses weren’t mind readers before becoming parents and they aren’t afterwards. Don’t allow yourself to feel like you’re carrying it all on your shoulders. Be sure to communicate what you need 🗣
3. Make time for EACH OTHER. Adjusting to a newborn, two at that, can be stressful. Therefore, it’s so vital that my husband and I make time for each other to do the things we enjoy. Since our babies are only a month old, we don’t feel comfortable leaving them alone with anyone just yet so our special time involves “movies & chill”, in-home dinner dates, etc.
