220 x 3 Bench / PH3 Week 9 Day 4 🎧🔥

Here’s some bench footage from yesterday’s workout, solid 3 x 3 with 220lbs on the bar, felt pretty easy as I had a fat fuck McDonalds meal with like 2k calories before the session 😂😂. Has been a pretty stressful week at school as all my assignments are due so I got 4 hours of sleep which wasn’t optimal but still had a great workout. Week 9 is coming to an end, and hopefully next week for the AMRAP kill this weight and get to repping 225! ⠀⠀⠀

What a crazy day! All I can say is mindest is EVERYTHING!! Seriously! 10 hrs before this I could not even walk... well, it was more like a hobble with a crazy random pain that would make my knees buckle. Out of nowhere and for absolutely no apparent reason late last night I had an odd adductor strain. I was fine then all of a sudden I could not put any weight on my left leg.
Briefly had a pity party and went straight to bed. Woke up early this morning and was still in a great deal of pain and totally panicked... I had 10 clients to work with today, how on earth could I even get up the stairs much less compete in #8weeks at the biggest meet I have ever done.
Negative Nancy was in full rage mode.
Typically I would not have even attempted to lift today but this has been an extra frustrating week (really 2 wks) with very minimal about of time to train.
All week I have ALLOWED myself to be extremely pessimistic about every situation I found myself in.(only causing more frustration)
I had to sit down and actually recall all the wonderful things and people I have to be #grateful for.
My mood and #mindset completely changed!
I was only going to do light mobility work and see how things went. Well... 295 felt amazing!😀 Felt absolutely no pain while working! #doasisaynotasido
I am well aware this was not a wise choice but it's what I HAD to do for myself. And I do not regret it for one second! Now I'm ready to #work!

Sooooo fun fact.. I'm finally training for my first actual powerlifting meet. Go time is in August and for now I'm just enjoying the ride, making my way back to the heavier weights. 6 weeks out for the 67kg class.. this is 215lb 5x5. 157kg Snatch by 2018 Pan American Champion @weskitts22 🇺🇸 This weight represents Wes’s final warm up attempt before opening at 165kg. This video (swipe right) was taken before heading down to the Pan Am Championships and represents roughly 88% of his 1RM #Snatch.

When we see more than 4 degrees of horizontal displacement (the distance that the bar travels away from the body) the chances of making a successful attempt drop significantly. Two things are likely to happen, either the bar loops causing us to miss the lift behind or the bar doesn’t achieve the height and momentum required to pull ourselves underneath, which causes the bar to fall in front.
-
To maintain a bar path that is close to the body consider the following:
-
1. Assign tension properly: The easiest way to do this is to pull our lats down and towards the glutes. Imagine that we are bending the bar around the shins as we work to push the platform away from us with the middle of the foot.
-
2. Ensure that the momentum of bar works up and back towards the body as the plates break from the floor.
-
3. Bring our shoulders as far in advance of the bar as possible, as the bar is lifted above the knee.
-
4. Be mindful of where our weight resides on the foot throughout the pull. Our weight starts over the middle of the foot, works back towards the ankle as the bar passes the knee and returns to the middle of the foot as the power position develops.

For todays workout I did giant sets. It was a lot of fun and the pump was insane. For my first giant set I did close grip bench,ez bar curls,push-ups,pull-ups and I did 4 rounds of that. During the workout I ended up doing 100 pull-ups and 200 push-ups. #keephammering

Kale, Spinach, Collard Greens, Beats, Celery, Cucumber, Pineapple and Carrots. Did a lot of juicing today and have been eating a ton. Powerlifting meet is tomorrow and I am 12lbs under the limit for the 105kg class so taking advantage of that! I really don't care how I place just want to have fun and at least hit my goal weights. 550 Squat, 415-25 bench, and over 600 deadlift. I also ditched my squat shoes and will be doing all my lifts in the A7 deadlift slippers.

This was my 2nd/last set and I didn’t think it was gonna get this hard LMAO. But you know, it’s pretty good for pulling an all nighter 🙃 .

A big misconception about powerlifting to the layperson is that we always train with maximal loads everytime we train. Today, I almost fell victim to that myself. I had planned to do some fairly easy singles and some light back off work. My singles felt good enough to where I was tempted to jump it up higher and higher, but in the end ended up leaving it. 🔹3x1 - 375 - 1st & 2nd set shown
🔹2x5 - 315 - On these I actually ended up playing around with a lower bar position. Felt different than what I am use to, however it most certainly wasn’t a bad thing.

It would have got red light for going up then down and back up but who cares. Its a 5 pound pr after a rep pr. They said my butt came off too but it felt like my but was still on the bench.

I have never successfully pulled 315 conventional without a hitch. And my best deadlift ever is 320 (8 second grind, sumo). Today, I pulled 142.5 without a hitch or struggle at RPE 8. I watched this over and over trying to find a way to invalidate this lift for myself, (because it couldn't possibly be this easy, I must have done something wrong, right?) and came up short. Go Britt, you did a good.
