Los animales son parte de la familia por eso es necesario aprender como actuar en una emergencia👇🏻
Si el animal no respira ni tiene pulso, se debe iniciar una maniobra de reanimación cardiopulmonar (RCP) . Es importante no realizar esta maniobra en caso de que la mascota tenga pulso, ya que podría resultar contraproducente para su estado de salud. Los pasos a seguir son:
- Tumbar al animal sobre el costado derecho, de modo que el lado izquierdo quede hacia arriba y pueda aplicarse la maniobra directamente sobre el corazón.
- Colocar las palmas de las manos sobre las costillas (justo detrás de la articulación de la pata delantera).
- Comenzar a realizar compresiones. El masaje debe ser firme, pero no debe ejercerse demasiada fuerza.
- Comprobar el pulso después de un minuto y, si no lo ha recuperado, volver a hacerlo después de varios minutos.
- Continuar realizando la RCP hasta que el animal tenga pulso y respire.
- Concluir la maniobra si el animal no ha sido reanimado después de 20 minutos. 👉🏼Para reanimar a gatos y perros con una masa corporal inferior a 15 kilos, deben realizarse cinco compresiones por cada soplo de aire, las mismas que en perros de entre 15 y 40 kilos. Para animales de más de 40 kilos, deben realizarse diez compresiones por cada soplo de aire.
SI EL ANIMAL TIENE PULSO, PERO NO RESPIRA
Si el animal tiene pulso, pero no respira, es necesario aportar aire a sus vías respiratorias. Si se trata de un gato o un perro pequeño, el asistente debe insuflar aire a través de la boca y la nariz del animal, pero en caso de que el animal sea de tamaño medio o grande, basta con que el dueño insufle aire a través de su nariz.
Si el oxígeno no entra en el cuerpo del animal, es posible que las vías respiratorias estén bloqueadas. En este caso, es necesario realizar la maniobra de Heimlich:
- Girar al animal boca abajo con su espalda contra tu pecho.
- Rodearlo con los brazos y entrelazar las manos justo debajo de su caja torácica (justo al final de las costillas y encima del abdomen).
- Utilizando los dos brazos, dar cinco compresiones fuertes.
- Comprobar si hay algún objeto que obstruya la respiración y extraerlo de la boca o las vías respirator

Celebrity couple Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi recently invested an undisclosed amount in vegan brand Miyoko’s Creamery to support its efforts to launch new products in 2020. “Being kind to one another is not just about people, it extends to animals as well,” DeGeneres said. “Portia and I have been customers of Miyoko’s Creamery for several years now and [its] cheeses and vegan butter have become staples in our home. As we learned more about the mission behind the products and about [founder] Miyoko [Schinner] herself, we knew this was a special and exciting company that we wanted to support.” Miyoko’s recently announced that it is looking to partner with a California dairy farm to transition it into a plant-based research and development facility for its vegan products. “We are particularly impressed [with its] holistic perspective to the challenge of moving our society away from animal agriculture,” de Rossi said. “[It] understand[s] the big picture—that farmers are part of the solution and require our support to transition away from current practices—it takes this holistic view to transition our world to plant-based diets.” In early 2020, the company plans to release new nut-free cheeses in meltable flavors such as American, Cheddar, and Jack, along with cultured oat-based vegan butter, an endeavour that will benefit from the celebrity couple’s investment. “We have long admired and appreciated how Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi have used their platforms to advocate for a better world,” Schinner said. “With their support, Miyoko’s Creamery will be better equipped to do our part in helping to further this important shared mission.” As plant-based dairy alternatives continue to thrive, the dairy industry is facing a steep decline, as evidenced by Dean Foods’—the largest producer of milk products in the United States—recent filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection.

I got the best email the other day from a consultant who faced her first rejection. She spoke to a restaurant manager who just flat out told her no I’m not interested in your services or serving vegan customers. ⁣

It doesn’t sound like a positive experience lol so why was I so excited about this? Well, her response was powerful. She told me that her biggest fear had been the fear of rejection, and when it finally happened, it was no big deal. She said she was even laughing about it afterwards. ⁣

✨THIS IS FREEDOM. This confidence, this freedom to not be disturbed by what others think, to know that your mission has nothing to do with the few or the many who won’t react the way you want them to.⁣

I’ve been doing mini life coaching in my stories for 10 days now and I’m loving it. Every time I put up a poll or a question sticker or read a DM I get a tiny sliver of a window into your life and I get to hear what you’re struggle with, what you’re working on, and what interests you. ⁣

Anyway...back to coaching 😂 the reason I’m focusing on coaching tips this month is because through this program I have realized that the private coaching work I do with my students is one of the most important parts of the program. You can have of all the expertise in vegan consulting but if you don’t believe in yourself to get out there and go do it, it’ll never happen. It’s tough to be self assured that you can do something so new and unique when just starting out. My students know that I believe in them 💯 percent and they can use my belief to drive them forward until they develop the confidence on their own...which does eventually come when they start to take action!⁣

At 57 years old it’s my goal to stay healthy, lean and fit all year long.

KNOWLEDGE IS POWER..

Staying fit and lean all year long is a process. The best way to get started is with a body composition test and monitor it regularly. Men over 25% body fat are considered obese, women 32% and above are considered obese. At 57 years old I never let my body fat levels exceed 10%. It’s all about a lifestyle, not a diet or workout.

Quantify your daily meal plan, this cant be emphasized enough!!! Know how many calories your are taking in everyday then reduce the intake slowly, start by no more than 500 calories per day for men, 250 calories per day for women. A healthy, sustainable amount of body fat to drop is 1 to 1.5lbs per week. This goes for everyone, even those on a WFPB diet. You can’t create sustainable progress by guessing.

Stay active, everyday !! Remember this is about how to stay healthy, lean and fit. This is not about the findings of some recent published study that says “MODERATE” exercise is all that’s needed to “improve” health. 🙄
We are talking about an entirely different level here. GET MOVING!!! EVERYDAY!!

Focus on strength/weight training and flexibility, three to six days per week. Here’s a big one, DON’T OVERDOSE ON THE CARDIO !!! No more than three 1/2 hr HIIT interval sessions weekly. Too much cardio destroys lean muscle mass.

Get your sleep, this “there’s time to sleep when your dead” mentality is BS !!! The body needs its rest, seven to nine hour per day, especially when training hard and regularly.

Stay away from processed foods, sugars, oils, flours.. Stick with a sustainable, whole food plant based meal plan. Keep healthy fats in a healthy range, no more than 12% to 15% of total calories and stop worrying about MACROS, there is protein in most every WFPB meal you will eat. We take in far too much protein than we need, even when training hard and regularly.

Finally, recognize and manage your stress. Start on a regular meditation practice. Stress kills progress in the gym. Destructive CORTISOL is created by chronic stress and it loves to eat up all your hard earned muscle. Remember, muscle is your body’s fat burning furnace.

Recipes:
​Ingredients
​Mexican rice:
2 tbsp olive oil
1 red onion finely chopped
150 g Arborio rice (or other)
2 garlic cloves finely chopped
1 red bell pepper finely chopped
1 tsp smoked paprika
1 tsp chili
1 tsp cumin
salt, pepper
about 3 tbsp salsa sauce (optional)
tabasco (optional)
1 tin black beans drained
150 g corn drained
50 g vegan cheese grated
Further ingredients:
6 large tortillas (gluten-free if needed)
almond milk + oil (for brushing)
3 tbsp flour + 5 tbsp water (to make a flour paste "glue")

Instructions
Mexican Rice:
Cook rice in salted water (or vegetable broth) according packaging instructions.
Heat the oil in a skillet or pan and fry the onions briefly for 1-2 minutes.
Add the garlic and paprika and stir-fry for a while, so that the peppers soften slightly.
Then add smoked paprika, chili, cumin, salt and pepper and sauté briefly.
Add rice and stir it all round so everything is well combined
Finally, stir in the beans and corn.
Allow the Mexican rice to cool and then fold in the grated cheese.

Fold Tortilla Samosas
To make the flour paste (glue), mix flour and water in a small cup.
Cut the tortillas into 4 pieces and fold each quarter (as shown in the video above) to a cone. Apply the outer sides with a little paste and seal.
Fill the Tortilla Samosas with about 1-2 tbsp of Mexican rice (not too full, you should be able to close them easily). Apply the remaining open end with a little paste and fold up.
Repeat this process until all ingredients are used up.
Place the Burrito Samosas on a baking tray lined with baking paper (the fold side down). Brush with a little almond milk + oil.
Bake them in the preheated oven at 200℃ (392℉) for about 15 minutes (or until lightly browned and crispy on top).

Recipe: Wet
3/4 cup almond milk
3/4 cup sugar
2 tsp vanilla extract
3 tbsp veg oil
half lemon, juiced and zested
1/2 cup non dairy yoghurt

Dry
2 cups all purpose gluten free flour
1/4 tsp xanthan gum
1.5 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp baking soda
1/4 tsp salt
1 cup blueberries

Preheat oven to 180•c and line a loaf tin. Mix all wet ingredients together in a bowl until smooth. In a another bowl, add all dry ingredients apart from blueberries. Stir to combine, then add to the wet ingredients and mix to form a smooth batter. Fold through 3/4 cup blueberries, saving the rest. Fill loaf tin with batter and sprinkle blueberries on top. Bake for 60 mins, until golden and a toothpick comes out clean. Cool completely before slicing.
