I caught up with my trainer for a session this morning and to also have my measurements and skin folds done. The number on the scales hasn't changed but I've lost 3kgs in body fat and gained 3kgs in lean muscle 💪💪 It's soooooo important to take before photos. We get so hung up on that number on the scales and think if it's not going down the program isn't working, we then quit and try something else. That's when the yoyo dieting starts. Take progress pics, if you're working hard and your nutrition is good you'll see results in the photos 📸👍

This is exactly how I feel about being back in the gym these past few days. It’s such an important part of my healthy lifestyle. Not just physically, but mentally as well. Exercise makes me feel more positive in my day to day life. I’m addicted to the endorphins.

It’s the weekend and I’m digging it. It allows me to actually relax and recharge. Several client plans to write tomorrow, but not going to the office (backyard typing in the sun!) and I’ll hike in the am with a girlfriend.

Dica 📣 esse molho fica perfeito em cima de macarrão, ou como recheio de qualquer coisa!!! Ele é suuuuper útil!! 💚 Como fiz??? Refoguei cebola, alho e tomates, fui acrescentando água aos pouquinhos até formar um molho vermelho... Misturei a lentilha já cozida, temperei com todas as especiarias que mais gosto... Acrescentei tahine, mostarda e finalizei com páprica defumada 🙌

Esse molho é protéico... Uma ótima substituição para o bolognesa tradicional... Experimente e depois me conta!!! Garanto que vai gostar!!! Eu já faria no almoço de amanhã da #segundasemcarne se fosse você 🙃

One medium papaya has approximately:
120 calories
30 grams of carbohydrate - including 5 grams of fiber and 18 grams of sugar
2 grams of protein
Papayas are also a good source of:
folate
vitamin A
magnesium
copper
pantothenic acid
fiber
They also have B vitamins, alpha and beta-carotene, lutein and zeaxanthin, vitamin E, calcium, potassium, vitamin K, and lycopene, the powerful antioxidant most commonly associated with tomatoes.

Not the most aesthetically pleasing creation I have made... but these chia seed and lemon muffins were so good I had to share the recipe 🍋🍋🍋
Light and fluffy and topped with a lemon glaze, these really hit the spot ⭐️⭐️⭐️

Recipe for the muffins:
250ml almond milk
1 tsp apple cider vinegar
2 tbsp milled chia seeds
300g white flour
1 tsp baking powder
2 tsp bread soda
1 tsp salt
200g Brown sugar
150ml melted coconut oil (can sub for any other oil)
The juice and zest of 3 lemons
4 tbsp chia seeds
•Add the apple cider vinegar to the almond milk and place aside for at least ten mins. Mix the mulled chia seeds with 100ml of water and leave aside (forming chia egg). Sieve the flour, baking powder, bread soda, salt and sugar into a large mixing bowl. Add the chia eggs, almond milk + apple cider vinegar and lemon to the dry ingredients and mix until no large lumps are left (do not beat as this will remove the air from the mixture!). Fold in the chia seeds. Place mixture in muffin cases and bake @180°C for 15 minutes (or until a skewer placed in a muffin can be removed clean).

200g icing sugar
The juice of a lemon
5 tbsp water
•Mix all ingredients until smooth. Add onto cooled muffins. Enjoy ⭐️🍋

🌱🌱Since I changed to a plant based diet I have been researching the foods that I need to be eating🧐. Iron is one of the most important. Here are some if the things I’ve learned. Iron is needed so that red blood cells can deliver oxygen throughout the body. It is vital for energy and helps with DNA synthesis. Anemia(iron deficiency) is a widespread problem for both omnivores and vegans. Men need roughly 8 milligrams of iron a day while women need about 18. If you are vegan, your body typically only absorbs about half the iron that you consume. So eating foods abundant in iron is so important. Lack of iron leads to fatigue, bruising, dizziness, shortness of breath and more 🤒 For vegans especially it is important to understand foods that help and hurt iron absorption. 👍🏼 Eating foods rich in vitamin c help the body absorb more iron. So if you’re eating something rich in iron, make sure you eat a vitamin c rich food as well. 👎🏼Coffee and calcium rich foods make it harder for the body to absorb iron. It is best to wait 3 hours after having coffee or a calcium rich meal to eat something rich in iron. Foods like spinach and bell pepper are examples of foods that are rich in both calcium and iron. These foods can and should be eaten. Eating something rich in vitamin c will help your body absorb the iron more effectively. (Don’t forget that calcium is also very important, so don’t cut back, just spread out your meals.) Above is a list of some iron rich foods. These of course are not all of them. De cada vez hay más opciones aptas para celiacos en bares y restaurantes, al igual que veganas o vegetarianas. Pero encontrar ambas ya es más complicado. Cuando como fuera con familia o con amigos siempre me suelo asegurar que tengan al menos opciones celiacas, que es lo más necesario para mí, ya que si no hay opciones celiacas, por muchas veganas que haya no podría comer nada. ☀️
A veces es complicado, se siente responsabilidad si con quien vas le apetece ir a cierto sitio y no hay opciones para mi. Con mi familia o amigos solemos buscar sitios dónde pueda comer bien. Pero no todos los sitios tienen, y no siempre se tiene la opción de asegurarse que hay ambas opciones. Para ello, yo tengo varias elecciones:
🔸Siempre intento llevar conmigo una bolsita con frutos secos, fruta... por si no hubieran opciones.
🔸Pregunto siempre en el restaurante qué opciones puedo tomar. Si hay posibilidades de combinar platos o preparar uno desde zero.
🔸Busco restaurantes del lugar dónde estoy en @tripadvisor. Suelen tener muchas opiniones y siempre suelen poner si tienen opciones celiacas y veganas o vegetarianas.

Another eating out post! This time a little snack of PINK humous & pitta. I love the setting of this cafe, it’s almost like a little wooden treehouse. They have a few veggie options, smoothies and, if I remember correctly, they also serve a vegan cake. This was a great little snack before a lovely walk at Roundhay park, which is just a few minutes down the road🙂

This is Kathy. For years, Kathy’s grown her own fruit & veg. Garlic, (as pictured above) onions, peppers, corn, pumpkin, tomato, apples, potatoes, kale, etc ...& for years, Kathys kids would refuse to eat it coz of the soil & slug juice.
