I grew up eating eggs, like most Americans, I never questioned where they came from... or what an egg truly is. (A hen’s menstrual cycle)
Like most people, I thought eggs were part of a healthy, balanced diet... turns out they can’t even legally be labeled “healthy” by the industry.
The egg industry is a bunch of lies, they paint this happy picture of hens roaming free and willingly giving their eggs up to us, when in reality: baby males are ground up alive, while baby females are painfully debeaked, hens are either kept in cages or tightly packed sheds, and then they’re sent to a slaughterhouse to be hacked up alive and their body parts are sold.
All hens, whether they’re are: backyard, free-range, or battery cage, have been genetically modified to lay over 300 eggs a year rather than around the 12 they’d naturally lay in the wild. This is extremely strenuous on their little bodies, however, hens can eat THEIR eggs to get back some nutrients. But, we took THEIR eggs for ourselves.
