We had fun building this feasting table for Saturday nights 50th party! So much colour! Mother Nature's a joy to work with! I love to see non vegans faces when they eat our food! The sheer surprise and delight is what makes what we do a pleasure. Thanks to Karin and Malcolm for inviting us to cater for their combined 50th, their friends and familly were so lovely, i felt like i knew everyone!

There is no such thing as a perfect vegan and if you're someone who doesn't feel they can 'go vegan' because you're afraid you won't make the grade then we can offer the following thoughts.

Veganism is a statement of identity, a lifestyle, and most importantly a practice where there is nothing to master, no point of completion, and no certificate that can be obtained.

It is virtually impossible to be a 'perfect vegan' and it is entirely unrealistic for anyone to try and attain this status. It's just too easy to come up short. Western society has removed the potential to lead a zero impact life on the environment and the animals that we share it with.

Veganism is inherently imperfect precisely because it is a practice created by imperfect humans living in an imperfect world. You don't fail at 'being vegan' just because you accidentally step on an ant, or if a bug gets squashed on your windscreen on the highway.

For better or for worse, we will always have an impact on the world and other animals. Fortunately we have the opportunity and power to look for, and choose, the options that carry the smallest negative impact.

Practicing veganism is simply the most effective way of limiting, wherever possible, your contribution to the unnecessary suffering and death of animals, as well as the degradation of our planet. This is something worth celebrating every day regardless of if you still want to wear your favourite pair of leather boots that you’ve had for years, or snuggle up in an old woollen jumper.

Rather than tirelessly working to do NO harm, it is about setting an intention to minimise your footprint AS MUCH as you possibly can.

Veganism is not a destination, it is a means to an end. A way of living with unconditional compassion, care, and respect for all life, wherever possible. If living your life with these values sounds super sweet to you, then becoming vegan is the simplest thing you can do to help you get there.

Oil-free gazpacho 🍅
Ingredients: 1 cucumber, 5 tomatoes, 1 red onion, 1 red capsicum, 2 tins or organic diced tomatoes (in juice), 1 lemon, cumin, dried oregano, sea salt, black cracked pepper, vegan Worcestershire, cayenne pepper (optional), fresh basil.
Method:
1. Roughly chop all the veggies and add them in a high speed blender. Blend until smooth.
2. Then add the tins of diced tomatoes, 1 tablespoon of cumin, 1 tablespoon of sea salt, 1 tablespoon of dried oregano, 1 tablespoon of Worcestershire, 1/2 tablespoon of pepper and if you like, 1 teaspoon of cayenne pepper. Squeeze in the lemon juice. Blend.
3. Taste it and adjust levels of spices if needed.
4. Transfer to a jug or big pot and refrigerate for at least 2 hours.
5. Serve cold in soup bowls and top with fresh basil.

Oil-free Mediterranean salad with an Asian twist 🥗
Ingredients: 1/2 cucumber, 10 strawberry tomatoes, 4 kumato tomatoes, a handful of Thai basil (normal basil won't taste the same), 1 avocado, 1 lemon, black cracked pepper, sea salt, toasted sesame seeds, dried mixed herbs (mine is thyme/oregano/marjoram/chives), 2 green onions, 3 tablespoons of minced parsley, 1 tablespoon of dried red pepper flakes.
Method:
1. Cut the cucumber and tomatoes in small cubes. Slice the green onions. Peel and slice the avocado.
2. Place all the veggies in a salad bowl, add the Thai basil leaves (whole), pepper, salt, dried mixed herbs, parsley and pepper flakes. Squeeze the lemon juice in and give it a good mix.
3. Serve on a plate with fresh avocado that you can top with pepper, salt and toasted sesame seeds.

Lentil Bolognese 🍝
Dinner tonight could not get much easier.
I had my first day back at work today and even though it was a half day i am buggered.
This dinner is so easy and a go to on a busy work day. Yes the pasta sauce is from a jar and the lentils are from a can, but i am a busy mum so no judging😂...Throw in a handful of spinach and on top of pasta. Too easy.
Oh and of course some cashew parmesan!

Disease is rarely genetically determined and mostly created through diet.
Repeating poor diet choices daily creates imbalance inside your body, which means your body struggles to maintain homeostasis.
